There was a segment about a vermiculite mine and how the entire town was basically poisoned by the asbestos in the vermiculite. Pretty sad. It also reminded me that my neighbor's house had vermiculite insulation in the attic. I'm not sure if my house has it or not, or where that vermiculite may have come from, but I think the number given was that ( Read more... )

Here here! There was a lovely post by a gal that I liked, whom was talking about how cruel it seemed to blame the homeowners, as if they "deserved" to lose their house. No one, she said, deserves to be homeless.

And good points about tracking and the motivation of the banks. Have you considered writing for a proffesional column?

While I do put the blame of this on some individuals who really should have had more sense than to commit to a loan they should have known they may not be able to pay off, at the same time, the bank GAVE them that loan, also knowing they might very well not be able to pay it off. So really, it was very predatory, and everyone thought it was great, being able to get much more of a home than they ever thought they could. I knew this was all wrong years ago, and it still really bothers me that the greed was so strong, no one stopped to think how wrong it was when a home that was valued at $100,000 one year was worth $300,000. the next. How did anyone think that could keep up ( ... )
