Long story short: we bought the Stealth. On the drive home (about an hour) the car broke down. I carried on home with Crowbait while Martino waited for a tow truck. Tow truck arrived. Hydraulic lift on the truck broke. They brought Tino home but we still have to wait for the car to be delivered.
We'll find out tomorrow what happens next - if the seller will repair or take the car back, or if we're fucked and have a nice big repair bill.
Tino's so disappointed he's not even angry. It's kind of weird, actually. Him taking everything in stride is NOT normal. But he's wanted this car since he was 16 years old. The thrill of driving it home could only be rivaled by the disenchantment of the enginge suddenly knocking. He pulled over and turned off the engine. It wouldn't start when he tried it again.
Hopefully it's minor - that the guy made a mistake in the rebuild and is willing to fix it. We shall see.
