What's the point of rebuilding our worlds if they aren't going to be the same?

And if they're going to be the same, what's the point of housing us here in the interim?

You assume that our worlds are, in fact gone.

They might not be.

People have other uses than just to beat up others.

*Sometimes.*

Even then, they should be able to pull their weight in a fight, shouldn't they? Otherwise they're just a liability.

Well, that's what I think, but I'm pretty sure most people here don't. Or the humans don't, at least.

Well, you can't really blame them. Most humans live their lives without having to worry about things like that.

Apparently. I don't really get how they manage to get through life like that...but if their universes really are that soft maybe it explains why there are so many of them.

You'd be surprised at how dangerous their worlds really are. It's just that humans are amazingly resilient, and have a habit of underestimating and ignoring the danger right under their noses.

You could kill thousands of people, and they'd still carry on their lives as usual.

The ones I've heard of and seen didn't seem very dangerous.

Then maybe you're talking to the wrong people.

You average person doesn't usually hear about the things going on behind the scenes, do they?

How the hell should I know? I've never been on any human world.

[Sigh.]

Well they don't. Even as weak as they are, the upper echelon would have a problem if everyone on the bottom decided to revolt.

Don't they have some sort of system to handle that sort of thing?

Well, they could always hire Hunters to protect them and cull the masses. But Hunters are just as happy to work for the other side, too.

Doesn't seem like a very efficient way of governing.
