Baldur's heart

Since last I wrote about Baldur a few things have happened. A week after that post we went to Toronto for Pesach and I boarded him at the vet's so they could monitor him. (This is a new service.) While he was there they did another X-ray and reported that the fluid he'd been retaining was nearly gone, so they had me reduce the dosage of the ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry. That's what my dog died of, the one I had growing up. At least he died peacefully from what I understand. Stopped walking for a week, then one day, stood up, walked into my sister's room, and stopped breathing calmly.

CFH can be a very slow process. With diligent management, you could still have quite a bit of time. It still stinks, I know.

I plan to be diligent, and my vet is very engaged so that's a good sign.

Poor Baldur! Sounds like you've got a great vet, though. Their suggestion about boarding him is pretty good.

Ignatius would not do well in that situation. He'd hyperventilate himself into a coronary if forced to be in a cage that long....

The cage is a decent size (I saw it last time); he's got plenty of room to get up and walk around, but not to run. But I haven't seen him doing much running lately anyway, so maybe that's ok.
