1) good question but since we are presumably going to find out more about Mr C and his background and his daughter's death will presumably come up again as a major character motivator, I wouldn't rule out it being explained in a later book
2) good point. Other parents might be conceivably sufficiently liberally confused about the joys of lesbianism (or grateful that their PFB isn't going to get into the sinister clutches of teenaged boys or young men) to forget the drug dealing bit but that's not who Tyburn is. OTOH her recent emotional acceptance of the fact that her baby is going to grow old and die in the blink of an eye might have changed her perspective a bit.

Agree about point 1. Also the brain effects can be seen if you're done-to by magic as well as doing it: maybe someone had a bit of a go at her somewhere along the lines? But I suspect Christine was having a go at her dad's magic, inexpertly, meself.

As for 2: Ty wouldn't send her kid away, especially not if there's danger. Grounded forever certainly sounds like a response I'd see her make.

My q: why hasn't Lesley dropped dead of brain nastys? She's been throwing the power round, surely. The real answer is presumably that she's needed for plot and character reasons but still.
