House renovation

Last week we painted the walls, repeatedly. The living room will be a warm apricot, with red sponge decoration if that turns out to look good, and the kitchen a colder yellow. The combination of "no right angles" (and presumably no such thing as a truly vertical wall) and striped wallpaper does sound like a straight road to frustration. The electricity in old houses can be interesting. Did ypu know what appears to be tarred paper was uses as insulation?

A suggestion for the new electricity; place all cables externally whenever possible; it makes it easier to fix things that goes wrong at a later date.

Cables will definitely be external - the old ones are and in a wooden house that's the sensible way of doing it. And we'll have to put the wallpaper up with the traditional nail, string, and lump of lead, to make sure that the stripes are always vertical, regardless of how the ceiling and doors and windows sit.
The kitchen is even more interesting - the ceiling is 20 cm higher at one end.
