That K/Mc chapter? IS GONE. I cannot find the file ANYWHERE on the computer. I've tried Search, I've looked in the Recycle Bin, I checked the thumb drive I use to move files around. IT IS GONE ( Read more... )

I HATE when that happens (and it has happened to me with academic stuff). Did you try looking for backup Word files or whatever program you draft in?

WordPerfect; and yeah, I just looked. No dice.

Usually it would still be in the recent documents list, but I was converting a bunch of course-related materials to .pdf format this afternoon, and so all the recent docs are things like "map 1 assignment".

I assume you searched for content you know is in the file, created in the last week or whatever? in case you, you know, cleverly saved it as something insane?

I searched for all documents saved within the past week - I always name the chapter drafts the same way, with a generic name, until I finish and figure out a title.

Rebooted, researched, and found it. *falls over* It had been saved into a different folder - but I still can't figure out why the original search didn't pull it up...
