The wheat berry salad sounds fantastic! Alas, I prefer not to eat too much wheat, and I'm not sure anyone else would eat the salad. But it still sounds delicious.
Nala was more high maintenance, too. And she also dug some holes in our yard, although I don't think she's done anything since those initial (big) holes. And Nala barks at pickup trucks that are pulling trailers of any kind. We have no idea why. Dontcha wish you could go in their heads, look into their pasts, and see why they have certain quirks? :P
Dogs are so funny sometimes, and oh my yes I would love to get inside their heads. Probably just as well we can't, I suppose!
*ponders* Can you eat other grains? I'm thinking it might be good with cooked barley, for instance. I sent the recipe to my mom who is going to try making just a 1/3 amount since she lives by herself.
Probably. Or brown rice, which I suggested to my mom since she often has that around and not so much wheat berries.
Barley has gluten? Huh. I was under the impression that the only grains with gluten were wheat (including spelt and other related ancient grains) and rye, since those are the only flour grains where you can get bread to rise reasonably well. Takes gluten to create the stretchiness in the dough. Learn something new every day, I guess.
Davis frequently barks at new people and chased down one of Teddy's friends the other day. I think it takes a long for some dogs to settle in and feel genuinely comfortable 24/7.
