Parenting at the Library

Okay, I'm not a parent and so I would never presume to tell a parent how to handle their children. However I think that there are some commonsense parenting axioms that even us non-parents can see and understand. For example, using your child as a shield when robbing a bank is probably not within the realms of Good Parenting. Nor, do I think, is ( Read more... )

I could cheerfully strangle the founders of MySpace for the damage they have done to library service. I'm constantly answering questions about the service, trying to explain to people that I can't resolve their MS account issues, have NO control over network traffic that makes the site slow/unavailable, and not responsible for the fact that you can only contact them via e-mail.

To be fair, I did find a number for them in a business database, but the patron to whom I gave it called back to tell me it had been disconnected. So, there's that. Piss-poor customer service, tell you what...

In all honesty there were two kids in the scenario. But only the one of them passed out on the floor. I felt so bad for him :(

Hmmm... I think that responsible parenting is in short supply these days (at least that is the view from my library anyway). And people honestly wonder why kids are so screwed up.. hmmm.
