Kayaking

Yesterday I joined an outing sponsored by "Friends of Eastern Neck" and Washington College - sunset kayaking. Just paddling around the wildlife refuge, nothing too adventurous. About 25 random people. A few from the spring shore cleanup in early May. Winter didn't join me so I tried getting to know some of the other folks. This was only my ( Read more... )

To help your wrists, here's a kayaking tip: when you're paddling a kayak, you don't pull the paddle through the water with your bottom hand -- you push the top blade forward with your top hand, and allow your bottom hand to guide the bottom paddle into the water. It's a very subtle difference, but you can get soooo much more paddling in that way because you won't tire as easily.

And I use gloves :)

Can you borrow 2 kayaks, as a Wash College spouse, or should I bring my own? Would love to go kayaking with you!

I think that I could borrow two kayaks. Probably best if my husband comes with me to flash his ID though.
