I have two friends that play or have played in orchestras (outside of school, that is) - you and my best friend, with whom I was studying today. It makes me kind of happy that neither of you is a jazz fan, either! (Though she says she likes it in small doses over a limited time period. I can't stand even that much.)

I love Big Band music (Glenn Millar style) ... but jazz - no beat, no "tune" ... sounds more like the group are doing their individual "warm-ups" before starting!

I thought I was hopelessly unhip and unhappening, but most jazz seems too fragmented and unpatterned for me to enjoy.

The friend I was studying with today says she likes jazz in small doses in a limited amount of time. We were studying in Starbucks today and they had a jazz cd that just went on and on and on and on and on and on it was horrible - and it kept getting louder as well!

If hating jazz makes me unhip, that's ok with me. :-)
