You'll see it on the desk behind him, right at the beginning, at around 0:08. You can't really see it well, but I swear, I think it's a child size/miniature typewriter.
Also, we see the hand grip/flip that simplydivine mentioned.
The french actor who dubbed the voice just doesn't have Alan's deep, chocolaty, tones. But I suppose if you've never heard Alan's real voice you wouldn't be any the wiser. But it's such a big part of who I think Snape is, that it was a bit of a shock at first to hear another voice.
Don't forget that Snape grew up in a muggle household (Dad was a muggle) so probably the set directors wanted to populate the house with lots of muggle things.
I agree about the old muggle typewiter theory. Also, I noticed an old electric floor lamp next to Snape's armchair in the beginning. I have to say, that kitchen needs a makeover!
I was also hoping that in this scene Snape would be dressed more casually, or at least have that blasted frock coat off or unbuttoned! Don't these movie directors ever read fan fiction?
Apparently not, or we would have at least seen a little bit of skin! I liked the cut of his outfit, though, especially as he was unencumbered by the heavy teaching robes. The french voiceover made me giggle, could they have a found a more opposite sounding voice??

Okay..Totally OT, but I came across this article on Yahoo about Celebrity phobias (link below), and couldn't help but wonder about Alan. Since many AR fans frequent your LJ, Cats, I was wondering if this was a topic someone would be interested in blogging about to get some feedback. I don't really blog through LJ or anywhere else for that matter. Does anyone know if Alan Rickman has any phobias? What are some of your phobias? Again, I know this was OT but I was just insanely curious about this topic where celebs were concerned.

I heard Alan in an interview with Charlie Rose admit to terrible stage fright, which may not be a phobia, but was somewhat surprising. As for myself, I have too many phobias to name. Top of the list is fear of flying!
