So by now, everyone is familiar with this picture, right? If not here's an article explaining why this made national news and once again put Ridgecrest on the map for something horrible!

I would believe it. From what I hear the taco shells he licked had gone stall and he was in the process of throwing them out and thought it would be funny to lick them. Very bad judgment that will haunt the guy for the rest of his life.

Actually the official statement from Taco Bell was something like the shells were part of a promotional the company was testing with employees and there was an internal contest about "Take a pic of your first bite of the new flavor."

But yes, they did also claim that they were stale. But since it was an internal contest in the company, the photos were NOT supposed to be displayed publicly.

I've seen a website where they had other entries (I've lost the link) and the employees were smart enough to black out their faces and name tags. This was one tame by comparison. You don't want to know one of the pics from a San Francisco location, but I bet you can imagine the general idea of it considering the population of the city.
