She has, however, been listening to anything she can over it and scouting the area. No, that bandage really hadn't stayed over her injured eye terribly long, but then she'd wanted to scout as quickly as possible and having no depth perception made for poor flight.
She really didn't like trees enough to smash into them without warning, you know?
So, have another unidentified reply to your transmission, Noble Two.]
I am sparse with hand to talon combat, but can defend myself readily enough on the ground. I suppose it's rather rudimentary compared to many of the humanoids, but it gets the job done.
[It's rather like watching a lion tear into something, really. Raina had taken her by surprise and she'd been uncertain as to wtf had been going on. Otherwise, shit would have been ON ( ... )

... And what are you, exactly?

Even so, the poor gryphon has concern for how this will be taken. After all, that whole not seeing face to face thing can lead to things ending rather poorly for someone.]
A gryphon. [It is stated rather simply, but there is no denying the pride behind her words.] I would be willing to wager that you have not encountered my kind before. I seem rather the odd bird out ..
Reply
You'd need not wager. I can safely say you're correct.
... Are you -
[Tame? Religious? Asking if she's Covenant would be a little too obvious, even for someone who lacks certain subtleties.]
- capable of working with humans?

You question makes her raise a feathered brow as she studies her communicator, Catherine. In the end, however, you'll get a perfectly inhuman chortle of amusement as she nods to herself.]
I have been aiding the fellows in my Wing for the entirety of my life, humans and non-humans alike. More than capable, as our lives depended on one another more oft than not.

[WARY SPARTAN IS WARY.]

I do not approve of the manner in which we have been taken, but I cannot justify sitting idle while the people here are being harmed. If my assistance can bring aide to those in need, then I will help as best I can.
We are here for however long .. I will at least see myself helping how I can.
[Wary Spartan is adorbs.]
Reply
And do you have a name?
Reply
My name is Zhaneel.
[Straight and to the point, this one is.]
Might I ask the same?
Reply
[Gosh it's just so polite she can't hate it.]
Reply
It is a pleasure, Noble Two.
[After a moments' pause she continues.]
What are your feelings about these people and their cause, Noble Two? Have you any desire to aide in their supposed misfortune?
[Serves you toast covered in politeness and rainbows.]
Reply
My feeling is that they are interfering with my duties. Will I help them? If it gets me home faster, perhaps. But I am not their puppet, and they'd do well to remember it.
Reply
She makes a soft sound of agreement and nods.]
I would say we are of the same mind in that thought, Noble Two. It would seem that any number of us were in the process of doing something else when we were brought here, and I've a keen mind to get back to that which I was removed from.
[Wow, way to just add to the suspicion that you're some manner of soldier, Zhaneel.]
Reply
You and everyone else here, it seems. What were you doing of such importance?
[Because honestly, homegirl's a gryphon. What could she possibly be doing rather than flying around and being mythological.]
Reply
War. I was helping evacuate our camp to a new home. We were waiting the return of several of ours by Gate, but I was brought here before their status was known.
[That one of those she was waiting for was her mate is one of the worst things about this. That one of those doing battle after being fatally wounded was her Father was right up there as well. No, Zhaneel would reallllly have liked to see them safely home before having been whisked off.]
Reply
And wow, that is sounding circumstantially similar. Except they'd done what evacuating they could before the planet got glassed. Even in the bunker for which Noble Team had been headed, there was no guarantee they'd survive. A glassing was total annihilation. Everything gone. Before Reach, she'd only ever seen the after-effects.]
... For what it's worth, then, I hope you can go home.
[Look, a lack of open hostility, skepticism, or disdain! You really know how to make a Spartan behave, Zhaneel!]
