Shattering, and shatteringly good. Sherlock occupying himself with the Poultry Mystery is both so sad, so funny, and ... gallant? Is it gallant? Oh, god, it is.

Loved John's threat to castrate him.

Thank you so much. The poultry "mystery" was sad, I agree, but he needs something, yes? Something. I loved John's threat, too. John did that all on his own :D I tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't listen. Thank you <3

Wow, that was beautiful. Just loved that and the imagery was wonderful. The bit abotu making up more quickly now because time is not on their side made my heart hurt. Wonderfully sad, if you understand me. :)

On a completely unrelated note, I looked up your profile on FF.N and I noticed that a) you're Canadian and that b) you have a story called Lake Effect Snow. Would I be correct in assuming you're from Southwestern Ontario?

Thanks so very much, really. Aging and death have been very much on my mind lately, so this story kind of just...appeared, and fit in completely with my beloved John and Sherlock characters :)

I AM Canadian! And I DO live in Southwestern Ontario! WOOT! About half an hour southwest of Toronto to be exact, lol, on the shores of lovely Lake Ontario. You, too? LAKE EFFECT SNOW FOR THE WIN.

I hope that nothing terrible has happened to make you think about aging and death. I hope that all your wonderful reviews have given you something happier to think about. :)

Did you like my Sherlockian deduction, lol? :D I'm in Edmonton now but for the first 23 years of my life I called London home. Going back to visit family next month - can't wait!

Oh, nothing terrible, lol, other than getting old...and the odd and macabre way my mind works :D I LOVED your deduction, however, and it was spot on. Edmonton! Do you have snow yet? It has been unseasonably warm here for November, but I know snow is on its way...soon! Not in the snow belt like the London area, but we usually get a goodly amount.

Thank you so very much. This story was both easy and difficult to write. I'm glad you liked. I cried, too <3

Stories about Sherlock and John as they grow older are sometimes the ones that warm my heart the most. This one managed to break my heart and heal it at the same time. What stuck with me the most was the funeral scene and Sherlock realizing that everyone who knew and remembered him, save John, was gone. Forever.

It is almost inconceivable to me to think of a world in which these people do not exist...and so to feel that loss along with Sherlock was heartbreaking.

Your work is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I don't know what's going on with me at the moment, but notions of aging and death have consumed me fully, and this story is the product of my musings.

It is almost inconceivable to me to think of a world in which these people do not exist...

I know, right? Right? Yes. I know. It's heartbreaking, but at least I didn't kill one of THEM...this time. Ha. Anyway, thank you so much for this lovely review. It means more than I'm expressing here, really. Thank you <3

*sobs

I adore the back and forth between past and present, between John and Sherlock POV. I adore the way that you show the gentleness and harshness of growing old, of loss and impending loss, and the small losses that accumulate over time. I love how grief is anticipated and embraced simultaneously.

Such a deft touch. Such gorgeous words, such powerful images. I'm in awe.

HELLO YOU BEAUTIFUL GIRL YOU.

Thank you! Guh. This story. It ate my brain for awhile, and I had to just finish it so I could finish other stuff...for FESTS YOU KNOW? FESTS THAT I SIGNED UP FOR? For pity's sake. I'm so happy you liked it, because it made me hideously sad, but at least I didn't kill either one of them...this time. HAHAHAHAHA. Getting old sucks. There's no two ways about it. But, at least they have one another. That's how I look at it. <3<3<3<3
