@SaveCastle Castle's ratings at the start of season two were shaky--but they have been improving every week and hit a series high of 3.1 in the 18-49 demo with episode 214 "The Third Man." This campaign is why we have a second season at all. We know that our voices matter, so let's use them! Here's how you can support Castle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is Castle really in trouble again?
A. Castle has been improving all season. Based on recent comments by ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson,
Castle is a favorite of the network. If Castle's ratings stablize and/or continue to rise, Castle is looking at fantastic chances for renewal! But don't keep quiet now -- keep showing ABC that the Castle audience is growing! The more people that write, the better!
Q. I live outside of the US. What can I do to help?
A. If you live out of the US, there is so much you can do to help. Definitely email and write via postal mail. You can still call (if you can afford it) by dialing the right country code (if you don't know what it is, see
this site; Calling from London is 00-1-818-460-7477) You can vote in any polls, participate in the campaign ideas, order the DVDs and Heat Wave, leave five-star reviews, and most importantly, spread the word! This will only be a strong as we make it, so make it count! According to
fialka, even if you're outside the US, you can still watch episodes on Hulu by using Ultrasurf or Hotspot to proxy through a US server. (Both are free, just google them.)
Q. When will we know the final word?
A. We will know for certain by May 2010 about a renewal. Shows can be renewed at any time, so it's possible we'll know sooner, but it wont' be any later than May.
Below the cut you'll find everything you need -- contact information, campaign ideas and resources, and a ton of information on how you can help. Again.

Tips:
- Be positive. Instead of asking them not to cancel, try to focus your message on how much you love Castle and why. You can mention you'd like to see it around for another season and many more. But try to avoid mentioning "cancelation" at all.
- Phone calls are the best thing you can do to help. The next best thing is good old snail mail. E-mail is the easiest so it doesn't count as much, but you can do it EVERY DAY with 60 good seconds. Do it as much as you can.
- Contact the stars. While you're mailing the sudios, send copies of your support to Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Seamus Dever and Jon Huertas to show your support.
- Mention Heat Wave. The book is one of their ways of promoting the show. If ABC knows how popular the book is, they'll know that Castle is worth promoting. That'll help keep the show around longer, so be sure to mention it if you're reading! Links to buy the book are below.
- Mention your demographic. The target demo is 18-49. If you fall in this age group, be sure to let ABC know your age and that you're watching. (Thanks fialka for the tip.)
Campaigns
Chess Pieces
Description: There are two parts to this. First is to send in the rook pieces along with messages that say "Save Castle" or "Long Live Castle" or anything along those lines. The other part is (since you'll be losing the rooks from your sets anyways) send in the other pieces separately, each with messages along the lines of "I'm sacrificing my ___ to protect my Castle."
Resources: You can buy chess sets on Amazon here for about four dollars. Also try your local stores, such as Target or Walmart or any other game stores.
You can view chess-piece message postcards here and/or download the full-scale versions here [12 files] [5250 x 4125] [10.03 MB]
Tips: If you can, separate your pieces. If you have two rooks in a set, send them separately. This will increase the volume of mail. When sending the other pieces, do the same. Use a small padded envelope, rather than a box or a regular envelope or tape-to-postcards.
Also keep in mind, the name of Castle's publishing company is Black Pawn. I'm sure you can be creative with that too when sending in the black pawn chess pieces!
Pens
Description: Similar to the chess piece campaign, alternatively (or additionally) you can send in pens with messages along the lines of "Keep Writing Castle." Be as creative as you want/can with this -- remember, Castle himself is a writer.
Save Castle Videos
Description: This one's easy -- just make a video of yourself presenting your case for why Castle should be saved! You can be creative with this (for example, if you don't want to show your face, you can do voice over, or just edit clips -- whatever you want!)

Among Adults 18-49, 7 of ABC's scripted series registered substantial ratings increases of half-a-rating point or more: "Castle" (+0.6 rating)
TV Ratings Wednesday 10/07 (10/08/2009) - Castle fans' best hope currently seems to be rooting against the forgotten and Eastwick and will be sure to note the poor performance of those other ABC 10pm shows that can't even creep over a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating like Castle can!
Worrying Wednesdays -- I'm Worried! (10/07/2009) - I know some of you think there's no chance Castle will be pulled off the air before the season ends, but guess what? I'm a little worried!
TV Show DVD Sales (10/06/2009) - The first season of Castle debuted with 53,294 units and $1.39 million in sales.
Will ABC keep swimming up stream or will it too throw in the 10pm towel and trade Castle for unscripted? (10/01/2009) - Castle has pulled a 2.3 adutls 18-49 rating, The Forgotten a 2.0 (and losing to Leno at that!) and Eastwick a 2.4. With the exception of Castle, which was flat, the shows are all down from their premieres.
Castle goes from the Bubble to the Crosshairs (09/29/2009) - In May, Castle was on the bubble for renewal, now it's in the crosshairs for cancellation. It was the worst performing scripted show for ABC during premiere week this season.
ABC is Monday's Most-Watched Net, Beating CBS by 2.5 Million Viewers (09/29/2009) - Producing its strongest "DWTS" retention ever, ABC's "Castle" topped NBC's "Jay Leno" by 3.7 million viewers (9.2 million vs. 5.5 million) and by 29% in Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 1.7/4). "Castle" was up from its week ago season premiere in Women 18-34 (2.1/6 vs. 2.0/6) and Women 18-49 (3.2/9 vs. 3.1/8).
House down, still tops; Trauma's explosions lead to ratings implosion (09/29/2009) - The good news for Castle fans is it again beat The Jay Leno Show (2.3 vs. 1.8), but some Dancing With the Stars overrun is probably included, which would be stripped out in the finals. As it stands, Castle had a 2.5/6 with adults 18-49 from 10-10:30p, and a 2.1/6 from 10:30-11p. Castle stayed steady from last week, so no complaints there.
DWTS Emerges as Monday's Most-Watched TV Show (09/22/2009) - Improving the 10 O'clock Hour for ABC, "Castle" Beats Out NBC's "Jay Leno" by Wide Margins in Viewers and Young Adults. Opposite CBS' "CSI: Miami" premiere in the 10 o'clock hour, the season opener of ABC's "Castle" beat out NBC's "Jay Leno" by 3.7 million viewers (9.4 million vs. 5.7 million) and by 28% in Adults 18-49 (2.3/6 vs. 1.8/5). "Castle" improved its time period for ABC, bettering the Network's averages last Fall with original scripted programming in the hour by 13% in Total Viewers and by 10% in Adults 18-49 (4th Quarter '08 "Boston Legal" = 8.3 million and 2.1/5).
