No matter where she runs always leads back to her. Katherine is running too, and their paths cross, intersect, intertwine, until Elena wonders if maybe they’re tracing the same pattern around the world.
“Do you even miss them?” It’s always her with the questions, and Katherine who never answers.
This time she just purses her dark lips, tilts her head, and drums her fingers on the bar-top. “What would be the point in that?”
It’s still not an answer, but Elena takes it.
They entice the two men at their right to come outside with them, and drink their blood in the alley like a scene from a horror movie.
“You don’t compel them anymore.”
Elena’s man is dead, throat torn out in all sorts of messy ways, and she shakes her head silently.
There is something like pride in Katherine’s eyes.

Green eyes, dark eyes, they all haunt her at night. Skin that turned gray and cracked. Death, death, death is what happened to her.So she spreads it everywhere she goes

There is one man who looks so alike her mind hardly has to pretend. He has dark hair and dark eyes and when he talks to her at the bar, his eyebrows rise and fall in perfect rhythm with his animated conversation.
He tells her his name, but she doesn’t hear it - another name is screaming through her head, painfully.
This man screams too, later in the motel room, when she lets his blood drench through the sheets, add some colour to the bland. She watches the light slowly drain from his eyes - since when were they green? - and thinks that he doesn’t look much like him after all

THIS. I want to marry it. Can I marry it? It's all so beautiful and twisted and perfect, I love the idea of Elena turning darker and more evil and yet she's still essentially herself because she can't let go. (“I think I knew their grandparents.”) I love that they just keep running into each other, and that Elena tries to fight it but it happens anyway and this: She tastes blood and doesn’t know if the taste is embedded in Katherine or herself, doesn’t know where either of them end or begin. This is just perfect, and it's exactly what I find intriguing about Elena and Katherine together and, well yeah, please let me marry it??

alsjsldhsdsjds, oh my god, you've made me smile so much too now, THANK YOU! I was a bit worried, cause I haven't seen that much dark!Elena and I wasn't sure if it was too like, whoah weird, or anything, so I'm relieved you liked it! I'm so flattered and aljdlds, if you could marry fic, omg, I would be such a polygamist -sighs happily and thinks of all the wondrous fics out there- Bahahaha

That's a point maybe I shouldn't be swearing my undying devotion to this fic, there are definitely a good few out there that I'd like to marry! No disrespect to yours though, I stand by my initial judgement that it is FABULOUS!! And there needs to be more dark!Elena in the world, it's definitely not too weird!!

Hahaha, oh no I completely know what you mean, SO MANY WONDERFUL FICS IN THIS FANDOM. AND OTHER FANDOMS. PEOPLE ARE SO TALENTED /fangirling. Eeeee well I'm glad to hear that, there really should be more! It's really neat to imagine, especially when factoring Katherine into the equation (but of course, what isn't more interesting when you factor her into the equation? ;))

Oh dear fangirling, it really isn't good for my blood pressure... I swear the amount of times I use caps lock and exclamation marks has multiplied by like a hundred since I started using livejournal, too many cool people (and fics, musn't forget fics!) here. Yes, I am sitting here trying to think of prompts that will give me more dark!elena, expect them shortly! (And of course Katherine will be involved, because like you said she makes everything more interesting!)
