About Karachun

Briefly on the topic of rumors "They captured Karachun/They didn't capture Karachun".

According to my information, including data from the locals, as of this morning the mountain remained under the junta's control. However, indeed, there was a nightly shelling of the mountain (in retaliation of the junta's shelling of the city, which was resumed this morning - there is no confirmation on where exactly the shots were directed - either Semenovka or perhaps towards Yampol) and also there were movements by the junta's military vehicles in the mountain's vicinity to the West of Kramatorsk whose purpose remains unclear (perhaps, the regiments are rotated or the regiments that suffered combat losses are withdrawn to resting locations, while there is a "cease-fire").

Because Karachun is essentially a prevalent height that is convenient for shelling Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, it is unlikely that the junta will surrender the key frontline position near Slavyansk voluntarily. If that were to happen, the militia would capture it and it would start shooting at the junta's positions that surround Slavyansk with convenience, which would make it stupid to blockade Strelkov's group any further.

According to the daily comment by Strelkov, the mountain remains under the junta's control.

At night and in the morning the mortar shelling of Semenovka and Cherevkovka continued. According to our intelligence, the Ukrs are constantly moving artillery and mortar shells into Karachun and other places. "In quantities". The roads that lead into Slavyansk are densely blocked. We noticed that all checkpoints are being frantically reinforced with additional personnel and vehicles.

So, I suppose that the rumors of "capturing Karachun" are exaggerated. Continued shelling also suggests that the "cease-fire" remained a media fiction.
