I have a dilemma. I went to looka t a room near the Arches. It is £290 all inclusive, a 5 minute walk away from my bus stop, and the landlord has no objection to guinea pigs ( Read more... )

It is no-where near perfect, but it *could* be liveable, and for that little rent I could afford to put some books and furniture into storage
Well, it depends on how often you *actually* use all the stuff that would go into storage.

If you're anything like me, I could happily dump 2/3 of my stuff and not notice the difference, except for a surprising amount of space...

There's usually some sort of compromise with getting a place to live, you just have to be sure that you can live with it.

Storage in Bristol is easy, there's a big place near the M32, just off Old Market; just looking it up: Safestore on Pennywell Road. Never had any problems with it, staff were friendly and helpful. A sense of direction is useful because it's a bit of a warren inside. Might still be branded Spaces, but it's part of the safestore group. I stored antique furniture there for 9 months without a hitch, so the conditions there are good.

I'd suggest you still looked around, because you might stumble across something better, but I'd start splitting stuff into 'need' and 'storage' piles right now, regardless.

Oh, and make sure I've got somewhere to crash when I visit ; )
