Sorry bb, but I don't see it as a benefit. The storyline belonged to Sam, and it loses it's meaning when it's given to someone who had no personal reasons for saving Dean. Cas was ordered to do it. The original storyline was meaningful because it was part of a chain of events, and it all had to do with the Winchesters. Mary saved John. John saved Dean. Dean saved Sam. And Sam should've saved Dean. "You're my big brother. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you."
They could've had Cas on the show without him taking Sam's storyline. There's no reason that Sam had to be pushed aside like that.
Not saving Dean, the Sam and Ruby storyline, the brothers at odds all season.... that's why there was so much Sam hate in the fandom in season 4.
Each to their own though hun :) It;s always entertaining to find out what others are thinking regards to storylines and over all arcs :) Thanks for sharing :)
