This is an important episode with regards to the brothers' dynamic, and it sets them up for the big split in Scarecrow but, other than that it's not one of my favourites. I agree with the answers to your questions though.
Clever edit. How is that part-coloured effect achieved? Just curious.
It's not on the top of my list, but it's beautifully filmed and like you say, an important brother ep that leads to the breakup in Scarecrow. I'm glad you agree with my answers.
Thanks so much!♥ I remove all of the color first. Then, I picked the blue shade, and added it to the jacket.
1. I think his emotions were blown out of proportion but there definitely were some issues they needed to work out. (basically the same as you) We see it again in the next ep.
2. I think he believed what we believe above or at least is open to the idea.
3. Maybe the first scene at the bar when he puts on an act with Dean.
4. The fight before the end. It is very thrilling and I love seeing Sam possessed, Dean trying to draw him out of it.
A very scary and difficult episode. In some moments it is very creepy. I think Sam was angry with Dean, so subconsciously did what he wanted to do. But I agree that it has been strengthened. How interesting it is to look at their relationship in the first season and in the last ))
Yes, it was scary. And there were real issues there, made worse by Dr. Ellicott. It is interesting to compare their relationship in the first and last seasons. :)
Again, I haven't done a rewatch in years, but I remember being totally sucked in with this episode--the psychology of the Winchester brothers made such perfect sense and even this early in the series I desperately wanted to see them communicate--we could see how much they meant to each other but they kept missing it!
And this episode, showing Sam's resentment toward Dean is the perfect match to Skin when the shapeshifter voices Dean's anger--and yet in both instances they were being manipulated to say what would hurt the other the most, and getting over those wounds takes a long time, especially as they keep doing it to each other.

2. Right, Dean knew that Sam wasn't truly himself at that time, but that the issues were still real.
3. The scene at the bar is a good choice, too. Sam giving Dean quite a shove there!
4. Very thrilling and emotional! Jared did a great job with this version of Sam, and I loved watching Dean's part in this, too.

I have a jacket like that. It's really comfortable and good for when it's cool but not cold outside.

I hurt for them.

Yes, it does match Dean's resentment in Skin. It being filtered through the shifter made it extra hurtful.
I hurt for them, too.
