Don't fall from your chair!! Yes, I'm talking about Without a trace, but only beacuse I made a comment on the Yahoo groups that I liked a lot *brags around* and I'd like not to waste it. Well, this explains why I don't mention I'm a slasher there!! *smirks ( Read more... )

*gasp* So you're no longer a die-hard Danny fan?

I just think that the show, in general, seems as though it's moved into shallower waters, although there's been some nice Danny/Martin again interaction as of late.

I'm not quite sure I understand why you feel "Danny erased all the good that was inside and out of him," but I'd love for you to elaborate on it. ;)

I'm completely smitten with Enrique Murciano, so that perhaps biases me toward Danny no matter what.

well... Let's say that I'm still a HUGE fan of Danny the way he was and the way he is in my fics and fantasy, but I can't be a fan of this puppet who drools and runs after Elena all the time without showing any personality or even dignity. In Rewind he buys a jewel to her to celebrates when he said 'I love you' to her for the first time. It ends with him telling her he still loves her. Okay. In all this, where is the 'I love you, too' reply? She doesn't feel for him, while he lost his soul. If you watch Danny in a previous season and then see him in season 5 or now, whenever he's with Elena, you'll notice that his expression is different, it's completely offguard, shy, submitted ( ... )

I know what you mean. I still like the show and will watch it over a lot of other dramas out there. But, I am a little miffed at the "coupling" the writers seem to feel is necessary. Having six lead characters, and not making them flat and boring, is difficult in a procedural, hence the trend to pair them off. Now you're down to four story lines instead of six. Jack/Sam, Danny/Elena, Viv, and Martin ( ... )

Kelleigh, I'm so frustrated with the lack of DVD releases. My plan is to eventually buy a regionless DVD-player and buy the DVDs from Amazon's UK site. Sad that we have to resort to that. :(

mhmm, interesting POV. You're right, for the authors to write about 4 instead if six is a lot easier and fast. The problem is that being WAT a procedural drama I didn't feel the need to know everything about the characters lives out of Fed Plaza. But I'm also aware that lately that is the trend in all the TV shows that are being produced. TPTB try to give what the fans ask: personal stories, not thinking that most of us prefer to speculate than actually watch, because in most cases the romance is not aupar to our expectations ( ... )

I could wish for a thousand changes to WAT, and none of those wishes would come true. The edge that this show once had has been filed off with the mishandling of the characters, and since they're characters that I love, it makes me so very sad ( ... )

I don't have much to add to your perfect reply.
You agree with my points, plus you reminded me a couple epic scenes of the old waT and the compassionate characters we admired so much. Danny and Martin the way they were. Yes, staying in character, they couldn't go on being that emotinal, because in all these years they dealt with the worst crimes, but I hate to see them like robots, machines who automatically investigate ATMs and police archives and automatically make a face when they find out a dead victim.

That being said, if I can have some little canon relationship between Danny and Martin, I'll add the rest.

You know, I haven't watched any episodes since the end of Season 4, I think. Although I have downloaded most of them, I haven't been up to watching. I've just started - the last two nights, as my flatmate is working nights and I'm alone - to rewatch from the beginning. I do miss it!

I must admit, though, that I hate NCIS. I can't stand Tony, and Gibbs is horrible all the time. I can't stand the CSI shows, either. They're all flash and no substance. Sigh. I miss *good* television!

Oh, I didn't know that you skipped all the bad seasons! Well, i can't entirely blame you for that. But Wat was the first and only, up to now, big fandom that struck me in these past few years, and I owe it too much to totally abandon it.

I dearly hated NCIS in the first seasons. I sort of skipped some of S3 or watched the eps while doing other things. But I promise it changed, and for the best. If you don't like Tony (are we talking about the new Tony or the first version of S1 and 2?), I can't say anything to make you change idea. I love him, cuz he grew up a lot and, being physically almost my ideal man, I can't help but stare at every close up they give me. I could never be a Tony/Gibbs slasher, cuz their relationship is not equal.

i hate all the CSI, too.

On Tuesday nights here they would run a new episode of NCIS followed by an old episode (Season 1). We used to leave it on that channel because there was nothing else to watch on the other channels. Eventually, though, we had to switch it off because I would be shouting at the television too much! It seems to me that all Tony does is act like a jerk to the other guy (McGee???). And I normally like Mark Harmon, but Gibbs just seems to be a bad-tempered, uncaring (for his team) grump. Normally with a character who is as unfriendly as Gibbs the writers would take care to show him being nice from time to time, to make up for his bad behaviour. However, I've only ever seen Gibbs be nice to Abby, and never the others. *shrugs* I just really don't get it.

I'm currently rewatching WaT "Rising Sun"! Oh Martin - so young-looking!

Rising sun???? uhm... Midnight sun, maybe? Anyway, I handle NCIS with care. I'm not a huge fan, I don't like all the characters, I take Gibbs how they depict him. Unlike you, i just love Tony. But in NCIS they treat everthing in a surreal way, so i watch it without any urge to cry for reality or craving fics or anything. And, believe me, the relationships they built between Tony and Ziva or him and McGee are much better than the writing of WAT... but you missed to see the new WaT, so I don't know if you can get my point, really. I find it very very sad that I compare NCIS to WaT and that NCIS wins!!

ITA!
I haven't seen the episode yet, either but if this season is going to be about Jack and Sam, but they brings the old chemistry between Danny and Martin up to season 7 from seasons 1, 2 and 3, I'll be willing to religiosly watch every chapter to enjoy those little moments... the little things... :)

I have the same hope. I don't mind sam and Jack, maybe because it's one of the little things they brought me to love during S1... Now, from S1 I also have a compelling Danny and Martin storyline... *sighs*
