The thing about being Jaenelle is that she knows right away when one of hers is gone. And one of hers is gone, and one of hers that she misses already. She can understand, though - this is not her Papa's place. But she misses him just the same

At some point, Tsuzuki enters, carrying a pot of tea and a plate of cupcakes -- his late afternoon snack after a hard day of work in the garden, but the somber air about the family causes him to pause and take note.

"Whoa, are folks all right?" he asks, his gentle if awkward concern genuine.

It's Aaron who stands up and glides fluidly over, before Tsuzuki can get too close, without even looking over at his Queen or Kalush. (Who is also his Queen, but his wife too. Kalush shifts slightly, to be more aware of him.

"This is family business," he says, a touch tightly. "We will be fine."

From behind him, Kalush clears her throat a little, and Aaron frowns back at her. There is a moment of silent communication, and then he says, still stiff and wary, "Are you a friend of Jaenelle's?"

Tsuzuki edges back, a bit wary and trying to look small and unthreatening. "Whoops, I'm sorry: I didn't mean to intrude," he says. "But yeah, I'm a friend of Jaenelle: she put a spell on the pond that I dug out front last spring, so it would always stay clear and she put a flock of colored fish in it, too."

Kalush makes a sound like she is trying not to laugh, and Aaron's eyes soften, very slightly. He examines Tsuzuki once more with narrowed eyes, and might even go so far as to brush against the first layer of his mind, with none of Jaenelle's subtlety, but it's only a touch and Tsuzuki being Tzusuki, might mean nothing.

"That sounds like her," he says, with some affection. "Who are you, then? From where?"

Be glad the interrogation isn't from Lucivar, really. >>

Anita was just wandering in, maybe on her way to the kitchen.

And she pauses in her tracks, because so many Blood in the same place, and Jaenelle being unhappy, and Lucivar hovering....

That can't be good.

Whoever's closer will get a glance from her, quite worried, and she'll take a deep breath.

"What happened?"

She almost asked who died? Thankfully, she caught that on time.

Lucivar looks up the moment before she enters, and after a moment to glance at Jaenelle and make sure someone else is watching her, he goes over to her, striding quickly, and takes her in his arms to smell her hair and just - confirm that she is there and not gone.

"Anita," he rumbles, voice low and a little dangerous, but more relaxed with her than he would be with almost anyone else. "I'm glad you're here."

Hmmm. I almost want Pan and Lucivar to talk again, but that might be dangerous. I miss you toooo I hope to make it on chat soon, life is weird this week and so is my internet. AP tests suck.

Whoa hugged! And Anita hugs back, because Lucivar hugs are always welcome and it's just so damn easy to sink into him.

"--- I'm here, yeah," she murmurs, sounding worried more than anything else. "--- what happened?"

Up to you? I don't mind punting her if you want. I also thought maybe this would be a good time for Goodfellow to catch up with Khary? It's been a while...

And he wants an embrace and nice, pure, physical contact. A low sound in the back of his throat, and Lucivar takes a moment to answer. "Saetan's gone. Jaenelle's...we're all...grieving."

Cyrano may or may not have been told by Wilhelmina - but either way, he'll be about, hovering more discreetly than Lucivar and looking worried.

He'd love to help. Really. He's just not sure how helpful he can be.

Lucivar will eventually go over to him, moving with a touch more tension and constrained anger than is really his normal lately, but his eyes are, if somber, not cold. "Cyrano," he says, with a small, wry quirk of his mouth. "You came. That's good. She needs her family around her now."

"So it seems," Cyrano replies soberly. "I wish I could do more than simply hang about, alas. Is there aught I can do, Lucivar?"

"Keep close," he says, "And talk to Jaenelle. Let her cry on you a little. I'm not very good at that part, it just tends to make me snarly and since I can't kill what's upsetting her..."

His jaw shifts a little.

Predictably, Niko will be there - hopefully, Lucivar won't have been obtrusive to the point that Jaenelle's consort can't be there to offer his support.

At any rate, there's a landen ninja about, frowning and taking the situation seriously.

And trying to understand what's going on.

Jaenelle would not let him hover that much. In fact, as soon as Niko appears, it's likely that her little shell will crack and she will leap up, forgetting the book, and quite fling herself into his arms with a noise that isn't quite a sob.

"Niko," she says, into his shoulder. "Papa's gone."

Niko wraps his arms around her as comfortingly as he can. "-- I'm sorry, sweetheart," he murmurs into her hair.

She might sniffle, just a little. Against him, still clinging. "I just - he was here and then he wasn't, and I felt it happen. I knew right away that he was gone, and he's all right, but..." She looks up at him, wide-eyed. "He's my Papa."

... well, this sucks, Elured and Elurin will have you know.

And so there will be a pair of elven teens sitting by Kalush and Aaron, hovering a little like the young protectors Aaron has been training them to be, trying to... well.. be there.

And worrying.

Aaron is sticking close to the twins, and a little glowery. But he does look at them, and smile just a bit, in very slight visible pride. Which means more, internally.

"You're doing well," he says, his voice low and very nearly inaudible. They are all being fairly quiet. "Don't worry. This will pass."

But he doesn't like it, still.

"Everyone looks so upset," Elurin says quietly.

Elured adds, "I'm worried about Arianna."

"She - wasn't so close to Saetan," Aaron says, quietly. "She'll be all right. And so will we. It just...we all feel it, when Jaenelle is suffering." He grimaces. "I wouldn't talk to Lucivar just now. It's worst for him."
