[Open] Such a tragic fairy tale

Dec 17, 2010 18:14

Out in the clearing by the lake, there walks a lone knight. For those who do not know Sir Tristan de Lyonesse, a prince of Cornwall and Britanny, he looks, very likely, like a lone ranger.

His heart has been heavy, burdened by the knowledge of his renewed solitude, but the magic nature of the Manse has made his own rationalizations easier to accept ( Read more... )

He may not be solitary for long, as Titus is out and about, bundled up in a heavy grey greatcoat, riding the white horse he's chosen as his steed along the trails through the woods. He's decided he needs to get out and about more, rather than waste cold days on reading...questionable books.

He's found his way to the lake and has paused, still mounted, to gaze over the icy waters, admiring the view.

Tristan, on the other hand, is on foot, and might be a solitary figure sitting on a rock by the frozen lake, perhaps.

His dark clothes certainly make him stand out in the surrounding whiteness.

Spotting the figure seated on the rock and nudging his horse with his knees, Titus guides the animal to approach the stranger, slowly, the snow crunching under the horse's hooves.

"It is a lovely view, isn't it? Like a painting in white and blue and grey," he says, hedging for a way to start a conversation.

"Aye," the lone knight replies, eyes still on the blinding landscape. "So it is."

Would that my lady be here to see it, he doesn't add.

What's this about dragons? ao_ji December 18 2010, 02:08:51 UTC
Temeraire is headed back to the mansion for another day of sitting by the lake in the hopes of Laurence showing up much like he has. The caves are lonely and colder than he'd like anyway and being near the people in the large house is at least familiar.

So here's the great black dragon coming in to land and being careful to not squash any one brooding standing around.

Certainly no rush with the me of very little brain. I'm Slow MacSlowy-butt at the moment.

They are the win? ^^ tricky_bowman December 18 2010, 06:47:16 UTC
Whoa hello there! Tristan will notice on time, and that will shake him out of his melancholy somewhat - so he'll make sure to be out of the way, and might wave at the dragon.

"Greetings, Temeraire," he says, loud but not particularly joyful. He's trying not to sound gloomy, though.

Is all good, luv, so am I. I hope all is well on your side of the world? <3

They are indeed. *dragon-preening* ao_ji December 19 2010, 18:13:36 UTC
He turns his head and looks down at Tristan, his ruff lifting slightly. He's happy to see him, even if he doesn't look terribly pleased...

"Greetings," he rumbles, bowing his head down for a nose bump against the human's shoulder. "You are not cold here?"

"The cold keeps me astute," Tristan replies, though the shiver that goes through his shoulders is a bit contradictory. "Art well, friend?"

Don't mind the lack of smiling and the overall gloom, Temeraire - it really has nothing to do with you, and the knight is happy to see you.

He's even trying to get his emo under control.

Speaking of dragons?

This one comes circling down to land with a thump, not far away at all, and with a joyous cry of "Tristan!"

Oh come now. Can you really mope? ISKIERKA IS HERE.

We're pretty sure that you're his OTP, Iskierka, because Tristan cannot stay sad when his dragon friend is here.

And he smiles a little, braces for the thump.

"Good morrow, Iskierka." He does seem a bit less... himself... than usual, though.

She tries to land lightly, but thirty foot of dragon can only do so much, and there is a bump even as she seems about to land right on him. (She doesn't. Of course.)

"Hello, Tristan!" she says, "Did you see Temeraire? He is here, and even if he is a silly show-off sometimes-"

Like you aren't.

She doesn't notice his unhappiness, just yet.

Well, that was kind of scary, but hey, he trusts her. And dying crushed would be relatively painless anyway, so he doesn't actually bother to brace or wander off.

Either way, Tristan is going to try not to inflict his emo on Iskierka, - his baby dragon friend doesn't deserve this, he insists.

"I met him," he replies, "he was here but a moment ago, if truth be told."

He reaches to touch the dragon's nose in a tender pat.

"Art well, sweetling?"

Sebastian is, the typist is just guessing, going to be in a very, very foul mood. He's been avoiding Guinevere, actually, because he knows he's out of control at least a little, and doesn't want to infect her with it, and he easily could. Could do a lot accidentally right now.

And currently he is just pacing, in his shirtsleeves, eyes a blazing green and hands clenching and unclenching. He hardly looks human, just at this moment.

And is unlikely to respond with immediate kindness to any knights, sorry Tristan. But we bet you can get through to him if you try.

Tristan is so busy brooding, though (it's a full time occupation, okay?) that he isn't quite aware that Sebastian is about.

It's odd and generally unexpected of this man, who is so atune to his surroundings usually.

It's symptomatic of his heartache.

Sebastian is aware of him, though. Quite. And narrows his eyes, turning toward Tristan, and then pitching his low, sensuous voice to carry.

"Funny, to see one of you so miserable, when it seems to be your sole purpose to cause others misery."

This knight would like to know what you're on, Sebastian.

He sighs, shakes his head. "Sebastian," he says. "What grievance is yours this day?"

This is Tristan-talk for what have they done now?, or something equivalent.

A small woman is out on the porch blankly staring at whatever that comes across. The snow, while still interesting to her, barely seems to hold her attention anymore.

The lovely innocent blonde that she liked so much has flew the coop. There's no potential for 'fun' anymore.

Well, until the next innocent, guileless blonde shows her head.

So Tristan just might spot a lady that might just know his one true love.

Tristan, of course, has no knowledge whatsoever of the connection between Aramat and Isolde. He's walking back, having spent some time with the dragons and had a few intriguing encounters, and is marginally less depressed.

Upon stepping up the porch's steps, he'll simply nod politely to the lady, as he would to most.

She notices the Knight nodding and smiles at him. She has no idea who he is either.

"Good Day Sir."

"And do you, my lady," he replies. He has however no intention to stop - Aramat will have to weasel a little for Tristan's attention.

We don't doubt that she can do it.
