Certainly not the kind of shinigami L is accustomed to. Certainly not a very human-looking and pretty-faced young man not much older than he is, with wide, innocent violet eyes.

Tsuzuki was just coming into the ballroom, looking for Duck, for her weekly ballroom dancing lesson, when he spots the rumpled-looking young man already there. "Oh, hello there. You must be new here."

L's eyes are wide and open, unblinking. "Oh, hello," he replies in a quiet, toneless, emotionless voice.

"I suppose I am. Who are you?"

"I'm Asato Tsuzuki," he says. And he can sense that this young fellow has very recently crossed the line between life and death, one of those who's found their heaven -- or their hell -- in this place. Well, he'll just have to ease him in to this, starting with the usual formalities.... "Did something happen to you that ended your life in your own world?"

Blink. Well, that's -- almost to be expected, probably. Hm. "I suppose if I am here, most likely," L replies blandly.

It's actually a fairly simple conclusion - the shinigami wrote his name in the death note to protect Light, or Amane. Or perhaps both.

He's not particularly pleased, but it was to be expected. Sigh.

Have a spiky haired defense attorney, L. If he would walk to the hallway, he might bump into him.

L does eventually make it to the highway, and is walking slowly, not looking particularly attentive to anything.

Of course, in his case, it's highly deceptive.

Phoenix notices the strange man walking besides him. He looks like a starved owl person, almost so much that Phoenix almost expects L to hoot. Still, be polite to the new guy...

He waves a L a bit and smiles.

L blinks and waves back, as if he wasn't sure what to do with this. He's still staring with the panda eyes.

.... I want to make him hoot, now. *gigglefit*

Not a Shinigami but here's somebody who knows about L - if only by reputation.

Teru Mikami looks distracted as he walks down the hallway. He's muttering to himself and is making some random, twitchy gestures with his hands, almost as if conducting an invisible orchestra although the gestures don't even make that much sense.

By the time Mikami and Riyuzaki cross paths, he's sitting in the hallway and crouching on a bench, looking quite the fool as he worries at his thumb.

He might look a bit mental himself, actually, and his eyes do follow Mikami curiously.

The figure catches Mikami's eyes and he pauses in his tracks. Something about that man seems familiar... then he realises with a shock that he reminds Mikami of Near; something in L's manner. The realisation makes Mikami's face darken and it is with an air of instant dislike that he addresses the man.

"This is not the place to be sitting idly," he eyes L suspiciously.

L looks up at the stern man with innocent, seemingly bewildered eyes, and blinks.

"-- I didn't know it was forbidden," he says after he's taken his thumb out of his mouth. "Are you the keeper of this place?"

He looks absolutely innocent, a bit of a simpleton, even. His voice is calm, barely audible, and would be gentle if his tone weren't so, well, toneless.

11-12 can be found in the main room of the Mansion - thankfully back to his normal self again. He's reading a book on philosophy throughout history and looks a bit too serious for his own good.

At this particular point, L is sitting in the main room as well and thinking about the situation he's in.

He needed fuel, though, so he helped himself to some cookies he found in the kitchen, and is eating them and staring in the void.

Aside from the occasional crunch, he's utterly silent. The combination might be a bit unnerving for some.

The crunching sound is making 11-12 lose his concentration and he ends up reading the same paragraph a few times before he shoots a brief glare at L. But then he sighs, not blaming the man simply for eating.

Distracted away from the book, 11-12 watches L curiously before he asks, "Are you new?"

L smiles a little at the young man with something that might be come off as curious timidity, whatever it truly is.

"I suppose I might be," he replies. "I guess you are not?"

He's quiet about it, but almost playful, if as inexpressive as usual.

Gellert may see L walking and looks the unusual man over curiously before striding up to him boldly.

"Greetings!"

Blink. "-- hello," L replies, and he looks (perhaps intentionally) a little lost, a little disconnected.

Gellert notices this. "Are you lost? Do you need some help?"

"Perhaps," L replies, and after a pause that seems to be considering, he asks, "do I look lost?"
