(introduction) even sidekicks get confused.

To be honest, it was an exhausting day.

Layla Williams might have an apparently inexhaustible energy burning within her, but even sidekicks need their sleep.

So after getting back home (after school, after training) and speaking to Will on the phone - no roof? someone might ask - well yes, you see, he's been caught in a family reunion of the sorts ( Read more... )

No superpowers -- though at Gormenghast, having any appreciable amount of common sense might be considered a superpower -- but he's fairly close to her age. She might spot a young man with dark hair and curiously violet eyes sitting curled up in an armchair, reading.

Titus is still getting over the nasty chill he caught, and he's still coughing, but he's out of the worst of it and he's finally feeling human enough to venture into the main room for appreciable lengths of time.

Layla still needs time to shake off her confusion. She might be slightly caustic once she sets eyes on him - wait. It's happening.

"And you? Who are you?" she snaps.

He jolts a bit at her reaction and nearly drops the book, triggering a coughing fit. He finally catches his breath, then replies, "I hope I did not startle you, madame," he says, his voice husky from a recent bout of laryngitis. "I am Master Titus Groan. Who might you be?"

If she ventures into the kitchen, Layla might find a young boy, not much more than thirteen, though he looks a shade younger, busy grating some pumpkin and studying a recipe from a cookbook.

Riku's often to be found in the kitchen, cooking to earn his keep at the Mansion, and today, he's trying his hand at some pumpkin bread.

She does go there, perhaps following her instinct, or perhaps the smell. After all, the recent excitement has made her hungry.

"Hullo," she waves. "Would this be the kitchen, then?"

"Oh, it is," he says, cheerfully, looking up from his work. "Did you want something to eat? I'm kinda busy here, but I could make you a sandwich. I'm Riku, Riku Miyagusuku. You must have just got here?"

Warren's wandering through the mansion, perhaps on the way to the kitchen, when he sees Layla. All he can do for a minute is stare, because she looks exactly the same. Exactly the same. Meanwhile, it's been so long since he's seen her or anyone from home that he's nearly twenty. Or maybe he is twenty now. It's hard to tell. And while he's glad to see her, he's not sure how she'll react to that. "...Layla?"

Now, this. Finally a familiar face - finally things make sense again.

"Warren." A beat, just to draw enough air to continue at a vivid pace. "You're here; but where's here? It really looks like one of those plots they were mentioning in Tactics."

A familiar face yes, but when she gets closer she might notice that he's significantly older than when she last saw him. He shoves his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket uncomfortably. "...Yeah, I don't think it's that. And, uh...I don't really know where we are. Not relative to back home, anyway."

Back home. After more than four years now it barely feels like home anymore.

Hippy, meet other hippy? This one can be found reclining lazily in a chair, eyes half-opened, and making a macramé bracelet with apt dedication.

He'll catch a glimpse of the girl (slightly younger than him) and give her a it of a smile.

Berger's a friendly fellow.

Have the sketch of a smile back; Layla's still not over everything that has just happened.

"--hi. I guess. Whatcha doing there?"

"A bracelet," Berger replies, and holds it up (it's half made, a bit messy because having big fingers, he's not really that crafty for detailed things, and very colorful) - "what do you think?"

When things are going well, Duck is a simple and cheerful girl. Even though it's getting cooler, she's enjoying the sunshine near Tsuzuki's little pond and contemplating going over to the lake to swim. Her feet are bare, and her hair very untidy.

So if Layla finds her way out, she could see her, lazing on the grass. When she sees someone, Duck jumps out and immediately starts to apologize, but she has no idea for what.
