[open] Turnabout Terror

Mar 25, 2010 22:46

After saying his goodbyes and being completely fed up with peoples' foolish superstitions, Miles Edgeworth goes outside to restart his car and leave this strange place. However, as he opens the door, he is greeted by a very different landscape than he had left the night before. Where there was once paved street, there was now little more than a ( Read more... )

Tsuzuki had been somewhat saddened when he and Miles had exchanged their goodbyes at the door to his room, and he had almost tried again to warn the newcomer that leaving this place was near to impossible. But he let the other go with a friendly farewell and went in to finish folding up his bedding before tucking it away for the day ( ... )

"Ah, I do my best," he says, modestly. "The world is full of trouble and sadness, and I see more of it than any one should, so I do what I can to balance that out, even if it's just doing little things. I knew this place was going to throw something weird at you, as soon as you headed out, so I felt almost, well, responsible for seeing that you got back to the house safe and sound."

Funny that Miles should think that re: comparing Tsuzuki to Phoenix Wright -- I got my hands on the tie-in manga (ie. licensed collections of some fan-comics) and I thought the very same thing. :: Grins::

Miles blushes slightly, embarrassed that someone should feel responsible for him. "Thank you," he repeats, unsure how to appropriately react. But he takes to heart the concept of 'balancing out' the trouble and sadness that he, too, has witnessed - and, to an extent, has caused.

"I try to do that as well. Attempt to balance what I can through the justice system," he says. "But those circumstances seem to be lost at the moment. Perhaps the opportunity to help others will arise in a different way." He nods as if cementing his resolve.

"Until then," he says with a slight smile toward Tsuzuki, "I will try to keep myself out of trouble."

The mansion begins to loom ahead... (?)

"Well, we both work in somewhat similar fields, so perhaps we can work together, sort of: I mean, this place needs a couple pairs of watchful eyes making sure that no harm to comes to anyone here and if the worst does happen, that justice is done. I don't know how we'd police this place, but I'm sure between the two of us, we can think of some way of doing that," Tsuzuki replies, hopefully.

The rooftops of the Mansion loom over the treetops. "Ah, here we are... It might be a little hard to leave, but at least you've got a welcoming place to come back to," he says, optimistically.

A 'welcoming place to come back to,' hm... Miles feels rather comforted by the idea.

"Justice - there can never be enough of those who would protect it. I think, between the two of us, we'd make a good team," he says to Tsuzuki with a slight hint of a smile.

"It might be a little tough to enforce, but I think I can handle that part," he says. "But I'm good at finding clues and you're likely way better at deducing what's going on from them... Well, I'm sure we can find a way to work things out."

In front of the mansion now, Miles simply nods again with a smile. "Of course."

"Until then, however," he continues, looking down at himself, "I probably should change and clean myself up. In my running, I've rather muddied myself."

He hasn't noticed this till Miles pointed it out, but then again, given his open shirt collar, he's clearly not the most conscious of his own appearance. "Whoops, you're right," he says. "I'd better let you go clean up, then. Your room's still open for you: this place seems to do that, like it's keeping a light on for you."

Miles is relieved. He'd just assumed that the room would have clothes waiting for him. Now that the thought occurred to him that the room could be empty, he was very glad it "left a light on" for him.

"Thank you, again, for coming to find me," Miles said. He felt like he was probably repeating it too much, but he truly was grateful for the calming company. "I'll... see you later? I'm sure there is much more for me to learn about this place."

"There's secrets about this place that I'm still finding out, but what I find out, I'd be delighted to pass on to you," he says, smiling, glad to see his newfound friend has made it through the jolt of finding out the nature of this place. "And it was my pleasure, helping you find your way back, that is. I'm usually around here somewhere, so hopefully we'll run across each other soon."

"Indeed." Miles bows politely and heads back to the mansion to clean up. While he's still not fully pleased with his situation, being friends with Tsuzuki has made it much more tolerable.
