[Mingler] After the Solstice

Dec 27, 2013 13:21

It's been a year since the earth shook, and Phedre has been quietly brooding on the disappearance of Jaenelle and of so many others. As the year passed, so did her pain - and while there are others, now, to share her bed, she wants to honor the departed ( Read more... )

Iggy was happy to help his mother and cook. It was a lot of food (thankfully he had help), and he's now hovering around the food tables, hoping there will be enough.

He is happy to talk though and might even be able to be pulled from his vigil by the right person...

feel free to assume your puppet helped cook something or even organized the tables. Iggy couldn't have done it all on his own after all.

His mother wanders over, might squeeze his shoulder tenderly.

"And how is my sweet man of a son, tonight?"

You make Phedre so proud, Iggy, do you even know?

Iggy blushes and offers a hand to his mom. "The same as he always is," he teases. "Awkward and hiding behind food."

"Sorry to break it up to you, love, but the food hardly hides you at this point," Phedre replies with a little, warm chuckle.

She'll take that hand, squeeze it.

"You're a man, now."

Ines cares little about the holiday season, but she does have an appreciation for the hypocrisy of mingling and socialization, so she'll straggle when she comes upon the improvised party, standing by the buffet and inspecting, tasting, even, the finger foods.

She might be looking for someone.

Ines may feel the warm brush of a furry body twining around her legs. Echo was drawn to the party by the scent of food and was curious about it's meaning and also ...

"I don't suppose there is anything up there that might be good for a little crat to try," he teases. He is hungry though.

Oh, Echo! One of the few beings at the Mansion who find extreme mercy in the eyes of the ever critical and difficult Ines. She looks down at the crat, and teases, "No, not a thing, critter."

Give her a moment to tease and you'll be getting lifted up, Echo. She does like to take care of her pet, after all.

Echo doesn't mind being picked up by those he trusts and he purrs in her arms. "Ah, a real shame," he teases back. "It all smells quite good."

Shadow may or may not have much time to spend at the party, but when he stumbles onto it, he does get curious and starts to look around for information.

He's likely to leave early - he was in fact on his way to go knock on Katniss' door - but he could be persuaded to stick around a little.

Bobby Ray just happens to poke his head in at the sound of a party. He loves how they just seem to happen at the Mansion sometimes, though he's not always fond of the side effects. He likely won't touch any of the food or drink, but he'll step inside.

He considers going to find Jack and dragging him to join, but puts off the idea. Forcing Jack to be social probably isn't healthy for the other guy.

He'll mingle, speak to people he knows, maybe share a joke or a Christmas story from back home, but he doesn't know the man that just stumbled in, kind of like he had. He'll offer him a friendly smile because that's just his way. "It's probably safer if they just make these things BYOB," he'll casually comment.

Shadow smiles, he's open and friendly, usually - if perhaps a bit on edge and on the lookout for a) Jack b) the Warden. Both would have a word or two from him. Still, Bobby Ray has done nothing to offend him, so he smiles back.

"I guess it would, but the buffet's a nice touch," he replies. "Don't we've met before? I'm Shadow - unrelated to the foundation of the Shadow Angels, before you ask. Or you can call me Mike if that's too weird."

He offers a handshake, as friendly as can be. Big teddy bear. Anything but King Kong. Enjoy.

Based on everything he'd gleaned from both Jack and Michelle, Shadow is anything but what Bobby Ray had anticipated in King Kong. In fact, if he'd left his introduction at Shadow, Bobby Ray would converse without a clue with the man that had hurt Jack. It even takes a moment for the wheels to turn and the Mike part of his name to sink in.

At first, he's smiling broadly, so friendly and open, and not just because Shadow is a handsome hunk of a man. He takes his hand to shake, giving him a firm grasp in return. There's just something calmly charismatic about the big guy's personality, but that smile falters and fades. "Mike?" There could easily be more than one at the Mansion. "Michelle's bodyguard, Mike?" His hands drop to his sides.

Because there has always gotta be at least one emo kid at the party... have a Manuel.

It's approaching the anniversary of his sister's untimely death, and he's been feeling absolutely wretched. All of the decorations and cheer are more than he can handle. They make him think of the Christmases he only celebrated when he was living in the human world, when Dare was still around. He swallows and turns to leave.

He could be intercepted, though.

I just couldn't resist bringing some angst into this post >.> Be forewarned that whoever tags him will get cried all over.

Frobisher has little to no appreciation for Christmas either - though it's too be noted that the party seems very non-denominational, and even not really dedicated to any particular holiday.

He's here, all things considered, mostly for the food.

He'd play the piano for everyone, if it wasn't stuck in the ballroom.

He'll spot the youth, note his apparent depression, and will offer him a glass of wine.

"You look like you have more reasons to drink than most," is the composer's greeting.

Manuel takes the glass, but is kind of at a loss for what to say. He wasn't expecting anyone to speak to him, and he isn't exactly in the chattiest of moods. It takes a moment for him to remember that he isn't in Faerie anymore and he can thank people without offending them.

"...thank you, sir," is what he manages.

"Robert," the composer replies. "Robert Frobisher." He used to expect some recognition, but has since given up on it.

"Happy new year, young man." He lifts his glass.

What's weirder-looking than Ryuk?

Ryuk in a Santa hat. Which we're not sure where he found (stole it off a decoration? asked the Plot Hole for it? Yoinked it off someone?) And he might be hovering about the food table, a candy cane in his teeth, as he scouts out some apples. Or someone to bother. Or both. Most likely both.

Here's someone who might befuddle Ryuk - Jackson can see him, of course, having died something like seventeen times. He was also immortal at some point, though now, well, everything is up in the air with regards to his destiny.

He'd wandered in out of curiosity, tried a pastele, and he only spots Ryuk while he's eating.

Hence the sound of someone who is, well, coughing on finger food.

Made you an icon! :-)

If there's anyone who fits the "must have died in universe of origin" rule that's among the house rules for who can see Ryuk, it's Jackson, poor guy.

Ryuk takes the candy cane from between his choppers. "Got some bad food there, buddy, or did something startle yah?" he asks, grinning. "Oh, that mean you saw me?" he adds, realization crossing his childlike brain

Awesome icon is awesome! Thanks!!

We do wonder what Ryuk sees floating above his head - Jackson's probably a bit confusing, isn't he, between his dozen or so deaths and ascension itself?

"I'm sorry," he replies, "... I've seen many beings in my lifetime, but occasionally I still get startled."

It's a wonder he didn't need help with not choking to death, really.

True fact: Ryuk is just short of being as uncanny as an Unas - the familiar surroundings did throw Jackson off momentarily, but he'll be fine in just a tic.
