I was really hoping you'd touch on this. It's weird, but I sort of found comfort in rereading old DC fics after Phil's death, especially yours. This was a lovely addition, and I really like the idea of them finding happiness with each other after going through so much.

Too bad there probably wont be much more new fic out there, what with Phil gone and the drama going on now.

I can only speak for myself, of course, particularly as I don't even know what other DC fic is out there, since the fandom was so full of incest last I checked and that squicks me hard on a personal level, that I don't go looking. But I know for myself, even though I will kind of miss seeing Jake's ridiculous face if he's not on the show anymore, it's a little bit easier to write in a closed canon ( ... )

It totally would not surprise me if Jake became part of the Cornelia Marie. He was welcomed so warmly there, and he'd obviously be a great addition. I had really high hopes for this upcoming season, as Phil's passing seemed to open a lot of doors for so many people, making them reevaluate their lives. Sometimes change is good, and it seemed like some of that would be for the better. If nothing else, watching Josh and Jake H working to live up to their legacy would be so compelling. However, it was obvious after a while that some of those open doors released some serious drama that I guess kind of exploded ( ... )

Is it weird that this made me feel better after the incredibly crappy past two days I've had? It just felt so...hopeful, and I enjoyed that.

I don't think that's weird. I felt better after I wrote it, anyway, so I'm glad I could do the same for you.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. It was cathartic to write. Maybe someday I'll even be able to watch the actual episodes.
