You know, somebody more or less dared me to include the body shots in that fic. It wasn't my idea, that's for sure, so I was never really sure how I felt about it. I mean, it served a purpose and all, but I was never all that thrilled with the execution of that one ( ... )

The perception that Seattle is rainy is actually kind of a fallacy. It is often sort of overcast and drizzly, but generally it's not even raining enough to merit an umbrella. I guess my very favorite time of year to be there is fall, right around October, but that might be because I love going to the Salmon Days festival. You can look at local crafts, eat kettle corn, and watch the salmon swimming upstream to spawn! It's really cool and I got one of my favorite necklaces there ( ... )

I'm a little distracted today so I can't honestly think of where I wished one of the fics had drifted...suffice to say I always like them and do tend to elaborate on them in my head! Chloe has this undying love affair with Curious George and it's beginning to wear around the edges for me. There's only so much PBS that I can handle at one time!

So. Prompts.

It's probably politically incorrect to ram a shoe thru the tv in front of a toddler. Nick's sure of that.

Nota bene: I like The Little Mermaid. I have the soundtrack, even! And almost all of this is cribbed directly from my nephew's Nemo obsession.

~

The truth was, Nick had actually enjoyed Finding Nemo the first time he saw it. It was a kid's movie, sure, but there was enough adult humor to keep him interested, and the turtle reminded him a little of Greg, in some other universe where Greg had skipped college to become a stoner beach bum. Not that he'd ever admit that, at least not if he wanted to sleep in their bed on a regular basis. But the point was it wasn't a bad movie.

Until he'd seen it at least four times a day for a week. Once they hit day three Nemo's charms started to wear a little thin, but by day seven he was ready to put something through the TV. It's how kids learn, his sister told him when Nick complained. And he'd read all the books, so he knew she was right, but that didn't make him feel any less like he was losing his mind ( ... )

Oh, no! Step away from the Little Mermaid! The songs will haunt you forever!!

Ha! Now that I've seen part two I see you tried to warn him as well. Stubborn man. Serves him right! (My nephew both loves and fears Finding Nemo. He wants to have it on all the time but runs, screaming from the room at regular intervals. It's both amusing and scary for us as we have no idea if that means there's something really wrong with him or if he'll just really enjoy Freddie Kruger movies later in life.)

Thanks for the new look into Nick and Greg's happy life! I still heart them so...and I'm glad you do too.

True story: my sister asked me tonight, without any prompting whatsoever, if I could get The Little Mermaid on DVD because, and I quote, "It has underwater stuff too."

Life imitates art. Or something.

In your story, House Rules, would things have changed had Derek been the one injured?

Absolutely. Unlike Derek, Spencer does not have that innate need to rescue people or save them from themselves or whatever. So he would have let Derek handle his own first aid, and they would have stayed safely out of one another's personal space for awhile longer.

Eventually they'd have gotten to the same point they're at now in the series, but I think it might have taken a little longer. It still would have been Spencer to make the first move, but he would have needed an opening so he would have waited and bided his time until he was sure the moment was right.

Maybe that would have happened during another home improvement project, or maybe it would have happened some other time. A stolen kiss while they were on a case, maybe, just a moment of letting their guard down during a particularly intense time. I'd have to go back and rewatch this season to decide when, exactly, but after Derek stayed behind in Vegas (with Dave, of course), I think Spencer was pretty sure where he stood. So it was really only a matter of time.

Bandom has infiltrated even MY subconscious, you guys. IT MUST BE STOPPED.

I was thinking about this the other day. Not in reference to bandom, but anyway. Fandom is so interconnected that you end up learning about fandoms you don't even belong to just through the nature of talking to other fen. It's like fandom through osmosis or something.

Such is the nature of social networking, of course. I think we tend to invest more in LJ as a community than other social network devotees do, though, so we *care* more about the interests of our friends.

Or something.

Oh, I totally think we are more invested in LJ than other sorts of people, so we DO care more. You learn without realizing.

I was thinking about how much I know about Star Trek TOS despite only having seen maybe 10 episodes, and I learned it all via other scifi fandoms - fandom by osmosis. Though I really do just like saying the word osmosis.

Tommy/Merton...prompt: "You want to watch Enchanted?"

Or, you know, any Tommy/Merton fic.

Oh, and by the way, it's entirely your fault I've started looking for Nick/Greg moments on the CSI reruns on Spike.
