*points up at icon* The things I do for that man. Really. Tsk. So last night, I found myself watching the Brit Awards (broadcast on CBC) because our Mr. Bean was a presenter ( Read more... )

Rankin Family?? You have the Rankin Family? OH pleasepleaseplease please... could I get a copy? (Oh--that's assuming you have it--sorry, not a good day for reading fine print... *facepalm*) I don't suppose you have anything by the Barra MacNeils?

And feel free to ask--I'm pretty good on most Celtic. Here's what I've got: Altan, Capercaillie, Runrig, Old Blind Dogs, Oysterband, a good chunk of the Chieftains, ditto Clannad, Wolfstone, and a few others...

Yes, I'm a Celtic geek... *grin*

I'm pretty sure I have some of their earlier stuff around here somewhere, and if I don't, I'm pretty sure I can get it. ^_^ I'll see what I can do and let you know.

I don't think so, but I'll check anyway. I'll raid other household members' collections. ^_~

You know, she's not Celtic, but methinks you'd enjoy Susan Aglukark, so I'll see about that too.

As far as the Celtic goes, I wouldn't even know where to begin asking. ^_~ I know a small handful of them, but I'm not far enough into the scene to know what's good and what's not.

If you like GBS, you might like Oysterband and some early Wolfstone, and Karen Matheson of Capercaillie has one of the best voices out there. I'll burn a few of them and pop them in the mail to you, just to give you a taste. *grin*

*snerk* Aw, c'mon, I do actually like their earlier stuff (haven't heard enough of their later work to comment, since they pretty much dropped off the radar here), and I was thrilled that they closed out the show, because yay, better music, but seriously, Bren. Angry. Beatles. ^_~

Oh, they TOTALLY are. And they admit it. Which is one of the reasons I love them so much.

Also, I have everything they've ever put out, so if you find yourself hankering to hear the later stuff...

*lol* Poor kid! Here: *offers chocolate chip cookie* I never watch award shows, largely for the reasons you've stated. Though I can absolutely understand why you'd want to risk it for Bean. I'd do the same ( ... )

p.s. Don't stab out your ears. You won't be able to hear The Killers.

Yay, cookies! Cookies make everything better. Thanks. *hugs* *munches*

Oh, god, I barely ever watch them myself, and when I do, it's for very specific reasons. I think the last time I really paid attention it was when RotK swept the Oscars. (And honestly, The Junos? Horribly, horribly dull. Sure, everyone's nice, professional and polite during them, but it makes you want to swallow your own tongue just to get out of watching... because it's a hypnotic sort of dull, where you forget that you can actually change the channel. *facepalm*)

what the heck shall we call ourselves? (aside from Fucked by the Current Administration)I must admit, I snickered over the last bit, which isn't fair, but it's SO TRUE. My sympathies. Actually, I'm not picking at "American" so much as "America," because there's more to America than you guys, and when one refers to the US as "America," it's (unintentionally) lumping thirty-four other countries in with the US (North and South America), which can be interpreted as either saying we're the same as you, or ( ... )

*facepalms* Why did I not know Sean was presenting at the Brits? Why? *slaps self* Not that I would have been able to watch it on tv as I don't have that particular cable package, but still... I should have been hanging online, or obsessively searched YouTube, or something. :P Gah. I feel like such a bad fan. (Although it must be said, in my defense, that I haven't been up to snuff on anything of late, be it fandom things or the evening news. Gah.)

Also: it's totally your fault that I now have "The Old Black Rum" playing in my head. ;)

... and I think I should add English idioms to the list of things I haven't been handling well of late. *sigh* I think I was aiming for "been up to snuff generally, let alone up to date on anything, be it fandom things or the evening news".

I think I need to go to bed. Work tomorrow, bleh.

*takes off her Brit cap, and dons the Colombian one so there is no way she possibly be offended*

I think I love you. I absolutely despise Russell Brand He is possibly one of the most annoying...things on TV. However usually I can only articulate my extreme hate by shrieking 'BRUSH YOUR GODDAMNED HAIR' and flailing indiscriminately at the screen before curling up in a quivering ball on the sofa clutching a hairbrush and weeping from the horror of him being allowed to exist. I am very glad this loathing is becoming internationally recognised!

Despite my initial whimper of 'nooo I missed Sean!' I am now heartily glad I completely didn't know the Brits were on, because I couldn't have coped with hours of Russell Brand, plus a load of music I don't really like!
