9.23 Initial reaction: everything I thought I knew is wrong

I’m rewatching on Hulu right now (um, sorry, people who pay me to actually work - I’ll make it up to you, I promise). And according to Hulu, in this episode “Even though Dean continues to feel the effects of the First Blade, he strategizes a plan with Castiel and Sam to take down Metatron once and for all!” Um, no. Just no. Dean doesn’t do any ( Read more... )

"...the angel tablet - Castiel found it under the typewriter (is that why everything Metatron wrote came true, because his typewriter was running off the angel tablet, and if so, where can I get me one of those?"

Bad idea! You'd never be able to write anything but fluff without feeling guilty!

Then again, you could write all about world peace and enough food for everyone, and then remove it when you wanted to write some angst.

Oh yeah, Sam was NOT gonna deal, he was gonna kick some Crowley ass!

-" And casually mentions that Cain didn’t have this problem because Cain was a demon and what? What? What the fucking fuck? Because unless I really haven’t been paying attention, this is the first we’ve heard about Cain being a demon. Wouldn’t it have come up earlier? Don’t demons tend to recognize each other, so Crowley would have known he was Cain the first time he saw him? Wouldn’t Castiel have known, and said something? Anyway, this is when I knew."Yes, we already knew all of this and it did come up earlier - it was the whole point of the episode 'First Born'. Cain was a 'retired demon' (if there is such a thing). He sold his soul to Lucifer and became a demon in exchange for his brother's soul going to heaven, and the Mark of Cain was what Lucifer gave him when he turned into a demon. Then he trained the Knights of Hell, before turning on them and killing them all (except Abaddon ( ... )

Ooooh, this was a brilliant review! You're a lot more coherent than I was after watching the finale. Thanks so much for posting it.

Um, Cas, being ready to die for his cause doesn’t mean he was telling the truth. It doesn’t mean he was right. After all, the other angel suicide bombers were ready to die for their cause. But Hannah believes him now, which is convenient, and she takes him into Metatron’s office to find the angel tablet.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only person who noticed that. I mean, guys, it was only last week! But apparently, Cas and Hannah are both two completely unironic, completely naive puppies, so what exactly did I expect?

Metatron is imprisoned, and Castiel faces the question of what to do now - he doesn’t want to lead, he’ll die if he doesn’t replenish his grace, but does anybody care? I don’t. Because back down on Earth, things are more interesting.Yep ( ... )

Well, I didn't write it until the next day. It would have sounded a lot different last night! :-)

My heart went out to poor Sammy the whole time, I loved that he stood up to Dean and still supported him

Yes, I love that he's able to do that.
