On Mako's nightstand are two tubes of perfectly red lipstick. They seem out of place, but Raleigh doesn't think anything of them until Mako arrives at the Shatterdome memorial service, lips painted red. He realizes, then, where he's seen it before: on Sasha Kaidanovsky, beautiful even on the eve of battle.
