house
I finally got through the closing on the house. House-hunting ate most of my spare time this summer. There were times when I felt like ranting and screaming (such as the time when a realtor showed me an otherwise charming place that lacked clear title).
Now, I face the daunting prospect of fixing up the place. -

I like to see interesting views and I prefer walking as a means of transportation, so I do a certain amount of hiking.

I am a bit over halfway through with the Appalachian Mountain Club hiking/cultural tour of Japan. The group has stayed mainly at ryokans (one had an onsen) though we spend a recent night in a shukubo (a very odd combination of austerity and luxury).
