[She'd waited a few days before venturing outside, partly so that she could come to terms with what she might find, and partly because she lacked opportunity. But Tybalt did eventually have to go back out in search of firewood, and when he did, she slipped from the house herself, PCD in her bag, her shawl giving her little protection against the ( Read more... )

[Offline] He is the worst person to try and comfort her right now. But he's gonna try. reflectivedawn October 27 2011, 23:38:26 UTC
[He hadn't wanted to go back out into the fog. In fact, it was on the top of his list of things never to do again. But sooner or later, he had been forced to, for a longer period of time than just moving between his own house and that of Ukitake's or Sango's. Fire wood wouldn't gather it's self, and neither would food and other materials. Not like there was much need when he had a life time supply of prepared apples stored in his basement, but after a while, even he and Sora were going to get tired of pie ( ... )

[The hand on her back startles her, and she screams again. She whirls around, stumbling over her bag and PCD as she does so, and reaches out to cling to the person who startled her so she won't lose her balance.]

Riku!

[Seeing it's someone she knows, she clings more tightly and shakes her head.]

Oh, Riku, but I saw - I saw Mercutio - I saw what Tybalt did to him. And then Romeo - and I -

[She breaks off, choking on a sob. It's too much to take in all at once.]

[It's alright. Because his balance is pretty much thrown off enough for the both of them. Luckily for her, he manages to right it just before she begins clinging to him more tightly.

Welp. This was awkward. He froze for a moment, brief and barely there, before relaxing against her, realizing that it was just Juliet and not some illusion brought on by the fog.

His arms wrap around her waist gently, trying to be comforting and probably failing.]

Listen to me, Juliet. What you saw isn't real. Nothing's going to happen to either of you.

[She shakes her head more forcefully.]

It did happen! Nanny told me of it just before I found myself here. Tybalt and Mercutio fought in the streets, and Tybalt - Tybalt killed him. Romeo tried to stop the fight, but it let Tybalt have an opening with his knife. And then Romeo - my Romeo - he - he - I could not watch that, but I know what happened. It is why he was exiled. If that - if that is true, then the rest - oh, God....

[She wraps her arms around him and sobs.]

-=He's made certain to pointedly ignore these stones. They were a game of the Animus, a tool to make them weak. The living-the people here and now... they needed comfort than the stones needed to be seen.=-

-=Lease to say he's been running ragged in trying to keep his friends together and in one piece. Finding Juliet the way she was did not help. He goes to grasp her shoulders from behind to turn her away from the stones and redirect her attention.=-

Juliet?

[Given that Riku couldn't pull her from them, this renewed attempt is going to take her by surprise as well. She can't help staring - if she watches it enough, perhaps it will make sense. Because now, to her, it does not at all. She gasps, her reaction not quite as startled as before, as she finds herself turned around, and she blinks, chasing away the phantom images to focus on the real person.]

H-hawke?

[She must look a mess. She hasn't been able to stop crying.]

Come away from these.

-=He was very adament in getting her away from the stones. He'd seen his own family on them once, Mother, Kohl and Wren. And when he started to feel his vision swim and force into seeing their last breaths, he decided then that these stones were evil.=-

These are things for Shamans and Spirits to understand. They are not for us. Do not stay and think-you will make yourself sick if you try.

-=Yes. Definitely things for Shamans and Spirits. Poe would have turned anyone else away if he had been here as well. Most people had enough difficulty dealing with death as it was.=-

[She blinks.]

Away? N-no! My Romeo is here - and he is being foolish. Has been foolish. Will be foolish?

[She's watched it happen several times now.]

If they are not for us, then why can we see them?

[Sailor Moon had been keeping to the streets despite - perhaps because of - the fog. She comes upon Juliet and approaches her immediately. She doesn't see the visions, but she knows what the grave stones do.]

Juliet... [She reaches to place her hand lightly on the other girl's shoulder. She is someone who understands entirely, someone who's made the same choices: jumping after her lover to their death, stabbing herself through with his sword to join him in the next life when she couldn't be with him in that one.]

[The touch is so light it takes a moment for her to notice it's there.]

Usagi....

[She remembers seeing the other woman like this before, when Bubbles was ill.]

Are you going to tell me to come away from here as well?

[What she says instead may be slightly surprising.]

Do you want to?

[For herself... she doesn't want to face these things. She'd rather run away and go think of something else, or maybe even fall asleep and take a nap and hope it's gone when she wakes up. But she hadn't been able to escape the horrified fascination, either.]

[The question does indeed startle her.]

No one has yet asked me that. I - I do not know. I watch to see my Romeo, but the only way to see him like this is to see him - us - die.

[Animals have a way of knowing when people are upset--especially when such an emotion is emphasized with a scream of distress. And an animal with senses as sharp as Kirara's could tell from a mile away. Despite her attempt to stay mostly inside for the week, because Sango knows what she'll inevitably see, she's pulled by the concerned cries of the two-tailed cat.]

[And following Kirara leads Sango to Juliet. And the graves. And she remembers Tybalt's words, and sees Juliet's name and the name beside it and a wall of denial flings itself up inside her head.]

[She tears herself out of being frozen and doesn't hesitate to pull Juliet into a hug, gently trying to tug the young girl away from the view of the graves.]

They're so cruel, the Animus. Their lies are so well-planned...

[She lets herself get pulled into a hug, but doesn't stray more than a step from the graves.]

It is not a lie. At least, not all of it. There. [She points at a grave a little farther away.] That is Mercutio's. His is real. He died within an hour of my wedding, at my cousin's hand. This I knew, but the Animus showed me how - how it happened.

But it isn't all true, either.

[That's the worst part. Their ability to keep one guessing.]

Juliet...

I cannot know that. If this - if this is true, then I know not what to think. But, it lets me see my Romeo, for a moment.

[She looks back, numb to the scene itself, to stare at Romeo's brief smile before he lifts his bottle of poison.]

[He'd been trying to stay inside as much as he could after his own experience with the graves, but cabin fever was setting in and as much as he liked having the Doctor around, there was only so much of sitting around and drinking tea and talking that he could stand. Which is why he now found himself wandering the streets again, trying not to look at anything too carefully. Just walk, breathe, hope that his stupid cat wasn't gossiping to the Doctor about him again...

A scream took him out of his semi-daze. Curious, he decided to follow up on it. It sounded real enough, and feminine, so it probably wasn't another one of his own visions. It wasn't long before he stumbled across Juliet.

Well.

He stood there for a while, judging what to do. Now, he decides to take a few steps towards her. Slowly.]

Juliet.

[The voice startles her, but not as badly as a hand on her shoulder would have.]

Lord Saxon. I - it is only one, rather than sixteen, but it is still.... I had not thought it would be so soon.

[Her voice is a little shaky and hollow as she speaks.]

Or i-in such a manner as this. It - it cannot be like this.
