[She'd waited a few days before venturing outside, partly so that she could come to terms with what she might find, and partly because she lacked opportunity. But Tybalt did eventually have to go back out in search of firewood, and when he did, she slipped from the house herself, PCD in her bag, her shawl giving her little protection against the ( Read more... )

[Animals have a way of knowing when people are upset--especially when such an emotion is emphasized with a scream of distress. And an animal with senses as sharp as Kirara's could tell from a mile away. Despite her attempt to stay mostly inside for the week, because Sango knows what she'll inevitably see, she's pulled by the concerned cries of the two-tailed cat.]

[And following Kirara leads Sango to Juliet. And the graves. And she remembers Tybalt's words, and sees Juliet's name and the name beside it and a wall of denial flings itself up inside her head.]

[She tears herself out of being frozen and doesn't hesitate to pull Juliet into a hug, gently trying to tug the young girl away from the view of the graves.]

[She looks back, numb to the scene itself, to stare at Romeo's brief smile before he lifts his bottle of poison.]

[Sango can't imagine what Juliet's seeing; it's her hallucination.]

[And she doesn't know what to say. What do you say to a person in this situation? To a dead woman? No--Sango refuses to believe it. Not another dead sibling.]

Perhaps that's the cruelest piece of all.

Perhaps....

[She turns away as the images continue in their very familiar pattern.]

I had forgotten the exact color of his hair.
