So I was reading the opinion page of the Indianapolis Star last Thursday, and there was a letter from some so-called doctor about how condoms really just provide a false sense of security. In this letter, the guy claims that condoms fail in preventing transfer of HIV about a third of the time, and only provide about 50% protection from most other ( Read more... )

Keep it in the family and email the Kinsey Institute. They're always trying to push their "homosexual liberal agenda" on everyone. Seriously though, I'm sure they could provide you with tons of information. The fact that you've done yer research and figured out the hidden agenda behind the MISH already gives you a loaded gun.

While I'm most prone to say Planned Parenthood, they also have their own agenda. I'd go with the FDA. They're at least a little less biased. And make sure the facts go thru at least 2000, preferrable 2003. Dates are important.

Sadly, the FDA has also become quite biased lately. This is why scientists keep quitting over its refusal to approve the morning-after pill for OTC staus despite the fact that there's "no debate about its safety." OBGYNs are pissed, too.

Of course, their stats on condoms might still be OK. For now.

And the FDA is the group that's responsible for setting the condom-testing standards that show them to be 99.9% effective when used properly, I suppose (or whatever it says on the actual condom boxes. I think that stat's "against pregnancy," but I'm pretty sure it's that on HIV/AIDS too).

This is an illustrated history of condoms! Among other things! ...from a UK-based AIDS charity. And here's a (pdf) really wishy-washy report from the NIH/HHS. I would say look abroad, though, and compare what you find in, say, British studies, to what the FDA says. Because they seem to be sliiiiightly less insane about sex over there. Or stuff from the WHO (here's one now!).

NOW I AM GOING TO STOP DOING YOUR WORK AND GO SUB.

:D

Yeah, I agree with the article: condoms are bullshit. Now, the pill; I know from experience that it kills the tiny babies who live inside my sperm.
