Only an hour to go before the new series of Poldark...

The original BBC adaptation back in the mid 1970s was one of my absolute favourite Sunday evening dramas. :-)

television, trailer, rose-tinted nostalgia

Did they have him standing naked in the sea in the old version?

I believe Robin Ellis took his shirt off once... but I can't remember why. :-)

I loved the original series and really didn't fancy this but was quite pleasantly surprised. Will watch again.

Got to spot Robin Ellis in his cameo role coming up... :-)

Aiden Turner is a good choice for the lead role, but I think his very heavy - and presumably fast growing - beard must be a nightmare for continuity. I can't help be notice how the stubble ebbs and flows. LOL!

Let me know if it is any good and if I should be watching. The original series predates me so I have no memories - fond or otherwise!

Too busy at the moment fully immersed in Indian Summers and all the treacherous goings-on there. Not going to tear myself away from that for anything!

Yes unfortunate that both The Casual Vacancy and Poldark have coincided with with Indian Summers. Have now missed so much of Indian summers that I don't think I'll be able to catch up. I hate these deliberate schedule clashes!

Not sure how much Poldark (which is real Mills and Boon romance stuff) will appeal to those not already invested via either love of the original and/or lead actor Aiden Turner. :-)

Actually the books had quite a lot of history in them re:steam engines, mines etc.

Mea culpa. I haven't read the books. Clearly I ought to! As a teenager watching the series on Sunday evenings back in the day, it is only the romance that I remember. Hopefully the historical context will make more impression upon me in this current series... :-)
