After some criticism for inserting a gratuitous shot of Alive Eve in her underwear into his movie, JJ Abrams reveals the much alluded to scene from Star Trek Into Darkness that failed to make the final cut... rather to BC's disappointment as he'd been working out seriously for this role.

It could be just gratuitious, like a couple of the naked/naughty scenes from the movie were. (Or I might be mistaking the two movies, I have watched the one from 2009 last night as well and they mixed in my head :)) )

The character of Jim Kirk was always that of a womaniser, so personally I find his antics with females of all species in both these new films amusing. In the old television series it used to be Kirk himself who ended up half dressed most of the time - his shirt getting ripped to shreds on a regular basis in fight scenes. At that age I didn't find William Shatner remotely attractive so it was wasted on me. :-))

If they are going to do gratuitous stuff like they did with Alice Eve / those girls with tails they can at least do gratuitous scenes with men in them at well!

Absolutely! These days I appreciate some shirtless Chris Pine... Shirtless Benedict too! I still can't imagine why the shower scene was ever shot in the first instance, but given that it was, at least JJ has appeased us by releasing the clip. :-))
