I hadn’t put two and two together in my mind, so was surprised and somewhat delighted to read this excerpt from Younger Brother, Younger Son by Colin Clark [1932 -2002]:

The need for a love object starts in the early teens for boys, as it does for girls. Just as schoolgirls have fevered crushes on their older classmates in girls’ schools, the real ( Read more... )

I had no idea he was a Huggins!!!I can see why he changed his name to Brett!! Obviously boys of that age fancied different types from we girls!!
BTW did you watch the Rylance interview? Those beautiful eyes.....

The story goes that Jeremy's father (Lieutenant-Colonel Henry William Huggins) didn't approve of his youngest son going on the stage, so Jeremy took the first alternative surname he could find - from the inside of the suit he was wearing at the time from Brett & Co. :-)) Just think - he could've gone for a Burton...

Yes, I did enjoy watching Mark Rylance. His eyes do something really wonderful when he smiles. What a gentle, charming, self-effacing man he seems, and yet such a force as an actor. I'm so looking forward to seeing him doing Shakespeare later this year.

I need a little Jeremy appreciation post every now and again. I owe him so much, since I would never have read War and Peace without the vision of him as earnest, young Nicholas Rostov from the 1956 film in my mind throughout. Jeremy was a seriously beautiful-looking young man in his day :-)

I love it when things/people I'm interested in cross over or connect unexpectedly.

Yes, I too was stunned by the coincidence.

Jeremy does not do anything for me I'm afraid, and nor does Alan Rickman (runs and hides!).

Benedict and Eddie YES!

Alan Rickman was my first ever celebrity crush - occurring in my mid-forties! Jeremy was the second. Now I'm making up for lost time by having multiple concurrent celebrity crushes on ever younger men... but I remain 'faithful' to my former loves as well. :-))
