I was actually looking for quotes for icons (if you have any that you want me to make, please let me know! They're not going to be fancy, but they'll be Existing at least.) and I found Interesting Things.

I have since realized that the name for the Rabatian land is actually Rabat, which is only logical. Although I really wish it was Rabbitland.

Just to let you know - I'm just about to make a spoiler-reminder post, but please don't worry, it's not about this post! A few people got spoiled a couple of posts ago, plus the comm in general could do with a refresher. :)

I remember it being quoted somewhere... Rabatian clothing is a lot more constrictive, with many ties and whatnot, whereas I assume Akielon clothing is more... drapey?

Me too! LOL that he should show up as a computer generated eromenos, but this is the closest to my image of Damen that I've ever seen - even more than the model pics that people post. Even the same hairdo that I imagine! Especially that picture on the right.......

My take on the 'other emotion' Damen is experiencing when he's in the Akielon slave baths but won't give a name to is pain at having been betrayed. He deliberately avoids thinking about it until Laurent makes him, by asking about why Margaret chose Kastor in chapter 17B:

He couldn't do this. The muscles across his shoulders were knotted so hard they hurt. The past was coming into focus; he didn't want to see it. Lying meant facing the truth of not knowing. Not knowing what he had done to provoke betrayal, not once, but twice, from beloved, and brother.

Laurent goes on to make that comment you mentioned.
