Let's hypothetically assume that Laurent and Damen would fall for each other, get together, pledge their mutual love forever, go liberate Akielon and put Damen back on the throne... then what? Do they live miserably ever after, each in their own kingdom?

I'm afraid that another "obvious solution" is that somebody is killed, as we were never promised a "happy ending," were we? (This is probably why I'm pleased that Freece is not rushing to a conclusion here!)

IDK, even if/when they get together as a couple I don't really see Damen/Laurent as the co-dependent sort of BL couple that couldn't live apart from each other. As long as the politics didn't physically prevent them from ever meeting except on a battlefield or something, I'd call it a win. XD;

I can't ever see those two turning all lovey-dovey. I can imagine it being a battle all the way to the bed, and beyond!

I guess the way I'd like to see it end is with each of them head of their own kingdoms, and a peace between their people, and regular meetings where they get to surrender to lust and passion. I'm daydreaming, though! The best thing about this story is watching it all unfold, bit by tantalising bit!

Well, I went to the index and read the entire warnings; there's a warning for minor character death, none for major. There's also a "happy ending/resolved." Since I'm not familiar with the fandom Freece comes from, this may have meanings I'm not getting, but to me it sounds like it ends okay. (I hope so, because I HATE reading stories which don't end well without knowing that from the start.)

I can't really see nicaise being heir (not sure if damen would be too keen with the little fork and slave abuser, * whispers* to be honest I'm not either) I'm betting on margaret being pregnant with damens child or one of the sprogs from damens orgies with the vaskians. Though I wish there'd be a little Laurent as well :p
