004 - Useless!

If I can't do my police work here, then what else can I do?

I've offered my services as a healer, but I've just realised that I'm more of a field/combat medic than anything else if I do. Gashes, bruises, gods, even limbs to an extent! But what? I'm hopeless against illnesses, they're something my magic can't really do. I don't understand it; it ( Read more... )

Hey, don't stress too much about it. We're all doing what we can.

And if you can't get a job as a policewoman, you could maybe pick up a hobby or two? ...I dunno, actually. Don't listen to me.

Everyone except me. Blue sparks everywhere and not a thing to do with them.

I know it must be a bit odd, to actually miss the sort of event where healing magic's required, but it's just been such a part of my life and it's... odd to not do it anymore. Or at least, as much.

Yeah, it does feel odd. I've only been doing it for three years, and going to bed without feeling like your life is in danger is still strange.

Hmm. Maybe you could experiment to see if your magic works on illnesses? That'd be really handy. I don't know if fairies can catch the cold, but I know that if the flu keeps spreading, being able to heal with just a touch would be... miraculous.

Or even going to bed in, well, an actual bed, right?

I'm not certain of it. The only healings I've done are with the same sort of injuries I reckon you've worked with, too. Still... no harm in looking into it. A few sparks at a time, maybe, just to see.

How's the hospital position working out for you, by the way?

Killing shit usually helps pass the time.

I've never killed, Mud Man, and I don't plan to.

How delightful for you. I, on the other hand, have different ways of... passing the time.

Are you useless?

It depends on what I'm being called on to be useful in, now doesn't it?

Right, I exaggerated. But -- I don't know. Late reaction to actually arriving here? It feels odd to not do anything for once.

When I first arived, I plunged myself into work. I spend almost every day at the library. I still spend much time there, it has almost unlimited information on about nearly everything, so long as you consiously look for the opisite of what you want.

Also, I have heard there is an Oak tree of unknown age at "the great manor house".

I'm sure that's delightful for you, Artemis, but I'm not the books and studies type. I need... something. To do. Maybe I'll give my wings a quick look over and scout that forest. A couple of ravaging animals to keep me on my toes might do some good.

Hmmm. Are you certain? I'll fly over to check, then. But even so, it needs to be by the "twisted water," remember? I suppose that's another thing I'll look around the forest for. It's vast enough to hide something like that.

Simply a suggestion. Though target practice on toothed deer and giant cats may be more interesting.

If it is not there, please inform me. Otherwise, I did not find if there was a lake nearby, though for all I can disconcern, there is.

...Artemis, Artemis, Artemis. You know I wouldn't do that; vicious as they may be, they're animals, and I'm part of the People. We're connected to the earth and to nature -- that includes bloodthirsty creatures, and I admit that's a bit odd, but unless it is absolutely neccessary (such as self-defense), I will not kill.

I've never killed.

Yes, yes, I know. I'll look into it, alright, Mud Boy?
