I have an 8G iTouch - which is probably what you were looking at (the iPad is basically a larger version of the iTouch with a few more bells and whistles added). It works well for mp3s and videos, it doesn't support flash, so while it works for going online, it can be a bit limiting in some areas (though mostly those issues are with things like online gaming, so not a huge deal - esp. since a lot of those have apps you can d/l anyway).

It was an 8gig. :) It's a great size, can fit on your belt, but it costs as much as a television. *g*

I know they'll have a sale eventually. The little guy would be fun to have and easy to carry.

I have a 30G ipod, which I love for vids and music. I have over 2,000 songs on it, and over 3 days worth of continuous video play...and it's just over half full. It is big though, so it's not always convenient to carry.

When I just want music, I take the 4GB ipod I found (so it didn't cost me a thing! I did put up signs but no one claimed it.) which is much smaller. It only holds about 300 songs though, and doesn't do videos at all.

I don't know if this helps, but for what it's worth!

How big is the 30gig model? Is that the medium size gadget?

Yep, medium sized. It's about the same size as my iphone. A little shorter, a little thicker, about the same width.

It does fit in the back pocket of jeans, and in jacket pockets. The video screen is about half the size of the device though...I know my niece has a itouch, and she scoffs at the size of the ipod screen. But she can barely fit a dozen videos on her itouch, let alone four seasons worth of one show plus!

Medium size would be doable. :)

It's amazing what they're doing with gigs these days. My first computer had a whopping big 170 mb hard drive. *g* Now, they're putting gigs into small gadgets.

Can you use a jump drive on an IPAD? I hear you can't.

32 iouch too. I love it. I have an ipad too but for the music I use the iTouch. The biggest problem is that it doesn't have fm radio, which is something I still don't get. I use either the app for the radio (with wifi) or my mobile phone.

I love the ipad too, but it's more like a computer, imo. You get used to the on screen keyboard and I have a small bluetooth one that comes handy.

I like having the FM radio option. It does come in handy.

Three of the folks I work with bring their IPADs to work, and I saw today that my boss has a small keypad with hers. That could be awesome.

I have a 32GB Zune (since I refuse to use iAnything) and it works great. Plus I use Zunepass which lets me borrow/load any and all music I like for as long as I like, plus keep 10 tracks of any type for $15/month. It also has fm radio, wifi connection for internet, and good screen for vids.

Also just got the Samsung galaxy note which is a phone/tablet/pda/etc. all in one. Great internet access, clear calling, and lots of memory for music, vids, games, etc. Have been extremely happy with it so far. Check it out at Best Buy or AT&T.com.

Where do you buy zunes? I googled it, and I found some refurbished ones on Bestbuy.com and their prices are better than the IPODs. There's more under the hood. *g*

This is what I got on Amazon. There was a special discount at the time too for signing up for a year's membership to Audible.com, so I don't think I paid quite that much. Good luck in your quest!
