Landis didn't have any trouble being up at the ass-crack of dawn. Matter of fact, he'd been up for a while, either bored, or otherwise harassing the late night crew with his mobile creepyness.

However, not being a usual sea-farer, Landis didn't know that the black sails on another ship was a bad thing, so not a thing was said to anyone.

Landis watched the flame fly and, could only stand in a state of WTF as it landed on the deck. He managed to get enough out of the scrambling crew that A) these were pirates, B) yes, this is bad, and C) yes, you can kill them, (once ordered).

"Hey, ol' lady... There any superstitions 'bout winged people out in the waters?"

Subala whipped her head around at Landis's voice, and had to blink a minute to think about what he was saying. "Not as such, but I reckon they've not seen yer like before." She pointed as the pirates attempted to board, trying to hook onto the ship with grapplers and harpoons. "Dive bomb'em!" she said with a grin.

Subala turned to direct Bartok and Henry toward the stern of the ship. Fish wasn't valuable enough cargo; Subala figured the pirates either wanted the Flow Rune inscribed into the ship, or they wanted the ship itself. The big men went to protect the rune casing and the wheel while she summoned Breath of Ice to finish putting the fire out, the excess spray of the ice hitting some of the invaders as well.

Being Landis, he wasn't ever far from his unlucky weapon (it's name is Badluck after all... or Badrach depending on your accent).

He wasn't the brightest when it came to war and strategies, but, it wasn't hard to figure it's easier to keep them off, than fight them when they're on board. With more of a passing glide and a drag of the frightening scythe, their wooden poles go snap-snap like twigs as they fall into the water.

Several of the pirates gasped, both at the unexpected Winger attack and their crewmates falling into the drink, and some of them that were preparing to board scrambled away from the side of their boat and toward cover. However, the fellow shooting fire arrows at the ship managed to hold his ground and fired one of his arrows at Landis (though being a moving target, he's unlikely to be hit).

Subala knocked into the water one fellow who had managed to grasp onto the railing of the Sunset and then runs for the wheel. Meanwhile, a crewmember activated a fire rune and set the pirates' black sails ablaze. From the cabin stepped the man who was presumably the pirate captain, eyes ablaze, ignoring the flame and looking hungrily at the Sunset, almost looking like he was ready to leap across the water to take on the fishing ship single handedly.
