OKAY STUPID QUESTION but

if I wanted this guy to keep his ghost form how do I go about doing that? Do I note it in my app, or do I discuss it with the mods on some other form of communication or something?

If you wanted to keep his ghost form, it would count as a power slot! So you would note it in the powers section on the application.

How would time travel work in the game?

Honestly, it depends! We have allowed some characters with superpowers related to time travel into the game, but they have been very limited in both scope and number.

Could you give me more details as to the sort and purpose of time travel you're curious about?

I have a character in mind -- Dave from Homestuck -- that basically abuses time travel by creating stable time loops. He won't do anything like trying to change past events or go into the future to scope things out without mod permission or anything, but I do want to get a feel for how time travel would work in-game before I put too much thought into plots with him.

/RIPS THROUGH THE WALL OF THIS COMMENT LIKE THE KOOL-AID MAN

Since this is basically going to be Aradia's power set once I canon update her, I'd say yes, Dave's powers as they appear in canon would be allowable in the game! We generally allow time travel as a power when it will be used with limitations--Chronos, for example, who was able to go back and forward in time but didn't overuse it outside of plots, and Katurian, who can go back in time and erase people, but doesn't affect anything outside of the existence of those individuals.

Quick question!

If your character is from modern day New York, would things like their apartment building still be there? I'm guessing the owner of the apartment will be different, but will the building still exist?

You could either say that the apartment building is still there, or that it never existed in the Cityverse--we've had players do both, so it's really up to your discretion.

Ah, I have a question too. Not sure if it was answered yet, but... You said things like their physical strength, granted it is from something like working out rather than a super power, would remain without taking a power slot, right? Uhm, well the question is if say, I had a character who had taken small amounts of poisons every day in order to build up an immunity(aka, they would affect him, but it would take almost ten times the normal lethal dosage), would it take up a power slot or is it sort of feasible enough for a normal person to do that that it wouldn't?

Sorry if that's worded all strangely, I'm not sure how to really explain it @_@

I think I understand what you're getting at. If your character has canonically developed a tolerance or immunity to something - disease, poison, what have you - then that can come with as-is without taking a power slot. Within reason! An ordinary human isn't exactly going to become immune to, say, lethal radiation poisoning.

Yeah, I was thinking more just sorts of things a normal person would come into contact with anyway, probably none of the crazy off-the-wall poisons, and it probably wouldn't really have much affect on anything, but I figured I'd ask before assuming <3

Probably a silly question, but what's the legal age for characters in game?

Reply

killyoudead May 23 2011, 23:05:19 UTC
Depends on what you're asking for! Since the City is ostensibly based in not-quite-real-world, New York, many of the age-based laws would carry over, but there are almost always ways to work around them. Again, it depends on the category!

Oh Wufei's going to hate not being legally an adult here. xD Can you say filing for emancipation?

Thank you!

Haha, yes indeed. And don't forget the lovely options of "who do I have to bribe to get an ID that says I'm 21," "the CPA will never take me alive," and "they can't enroll me in a high school if they don't know I exist, right?"

No problem!
