Bing and I have been discussing on what to do with the turtle boys because -- quite frankly -- their education is the pits. But they will both be very resistant to doing ANYTHING with education because... they don't think they need it. They can kill a man with their thumb! Why do they need school, etc?
But we haven't really gotten a game plan for anything yet, and are open to suggestion.
Well, I have at least decided that Terezi has received Letters from CPS. A couple over the summer letting her know she needed to enroll in school, and one after classes started reminding her to get with the program.
I haven't really decided anything beyond that, though I have pondered some things such like the possibility of her ending up actually meeting with a case worker.
There's also the point of having a guardian (she doesn't) though I guess I would have to ask what the kids who do attend school do where that is concerned.
Oh I guess I should also mention that, concerning the "do as you like" thing, I have another character who had a canonmate pretend to be his guardian so he could avoid being questioned on things like school.
I was thinking about the CPS stuff too, even though it's... not really related to my characters. I know that some people have said that their characters don't have anything against school, they're just not really inclined to decide to go of their own accord. So maybe there could be more of an outreach effort by the Institute to try and convince the underage characters that school is a good thing. I don't think that they would try to force anyone who was drastically opposed to the idea, but it seems like there should be some sort of active effort to get kids to go.
This is certainly a possibility! I've noticed that in general the Institute doesn't do a lot of recruiting unless it's teachers advertising their specific classes, so maybe there could be some sort of "let's bring attention to the number of import kids who aren't getting an education" movement?
let's smush these two together at the soonest opportunity! i am figuring that they can get up to RP shenanigans while we're still organizing the group stuff, so.
yeah kan is down for giving it a try once i'm in a more stable place irl
also alex has invited nepeta and aradia to a d&d session so there's that too speaking of alex and school, i figure he's done a lot to fudge the books to keep cps off his back, as well as keeping track of places where he might be reported for truancy so as to avoid them during school hours i guess he'll only have to worry about that till his next birthday though
