The national park wasn't somewhere she had visited often, though for her it wasn't that far from where her dojo had been in San Francisco. It was a beautiful place, with some trees several generations old, and small waterfalls and rivers hidden throughout the labyrinth of vegetation. It was so different from the City, so peaceful and quiet. It was, to say the least, a place where she felt rather at-home ( ... )

It was as if he had melded into the shadows. When Gambit appeared, he was all business: face stern, his jaw held tight while his body was held loose, every movement he made as silent as death and almost as purposeful. The true nature of what he was -- a Thief, and a master thief at that, one who had years and years of training and experience -- showed through as he took his place next to Scathach without a sound.

"It's clear," he said, tone flat, an obvious edge to the words. "We de only ones dat got away."

Her gaze rested on him for a moment, and then she nodded. They had been the only two slippery enough to elude capture; that, or the others had intended to become temporary prisoners. "Nothing threatening for at least two miles around," she added. The redhead pointed in the direction of where she had caught Cable's scent. "They were let off that way, about a half mile or so away." She looked at him once more, and raised an eyebrow.

"I can get us there faster if I carry you and run," she offered. "Otherwise, we're both up for a hike. It is your choice."

He fell back on charm and the presence of a pretty thing in front of him to ignore the gnawing sense of guilt building in the back of his throat. "As much as I'd enjoy bein in yo' arms, fille, I work best at my own pace. Go ahead and bolt if ya really are dat fast, I'll meet ya wherever ya end up."

"I must have missed the part with the shackles," Lorna stared right at Cable, feeling irritated. She wasn't ready for this sort of thing yet, was she? They'd been completely overpowered so easily. Not to mention, she barely was able to disrupt the camera in time. It showed Cable and Deadpool, but not her and Rachel.

"And I musta missed the part where the nutty chick with the magnets can't stop the aforementioned shacklage."

A glance to Cable. "C'mon, Nateface, there's no way these mopes invented something that can dampen your uber-noggin. Bust us out and let's go catch those simps and show 'em what's what."

Rachel turned to hiss at Deadpool. "Can it loudmouth, I didn't see you coming up with any brilliant escape plans."

But she turned to Nathan and frowned. "But I don't see where this was a good thing. Yeah, we have a better idea of the firepower they're toting, but we were looking for something a little more substantial... weren't we?"

Deadpool can't can it without another snide comment.

"Yeah, too bad I wasn't enough of a weasel to take Gambit's 'ditch everybody and save my own ass' plan. Good call, Cabes, on bringing Gumbo Headwrap along. Note for the future, you might wanna run your casting call ideas by what's left of the Morlocks first."

Lorna was still quite angry with the way things had ended up in the mission. She was mad they'd been caught, mad Gambit had taken off, and just quite angry with everything overall. Since Cable was busy being a telepathic bitch to Scott in the diner, Lorna was making her own way home. She'd fly, it wouldn't be hard. Then she'd get to deal with Alex, and probably some of the X-men when she returned.

She didn't even remember why she'd gone. She recalled being so scared at the idea of them having sentinels, or something possibly worse. Lorna was so terrified another Genosha could happen at this recent uproar, that she wasn't thinking. It was irrational and unlikely, but Lorna was unable to help thinking about it.

When she made her way out of the forest, she'd fly.

They had, more or less, been dismissed by their temporary leader. As much as Scathach wanted to just take her time going back to the City, she knew that time was key to keeping her whereabouts secret; Scott would certainly be upset if he knew she was there, let alone Josh. She might end up telling the latter eventually, but not until this entire mess had been cleared up. He was still too young, she thought, to understand why she'd put herself and the others with her at risk in that way. So she jogged, purposely not going as fast as she could simply because she wasn't truly looking forward to returning ( ... )

Lorna whirled around, magnetic fields showing her Scathach's appearance before her eyes could. She frowned, thinking about Alex almost instantly. She and Scatty were not on the best of terms, it was true, but Lorna had barely thought about her since she and Alex broke up. Since they weren't together anymore, a lot of the resentment Lorna felt towards her was practically gone.

Stiffly, Lorna spoke. "Hello."

She was pleased no one on the mission had been hurt, but she couldn't help the anger that was boiling inside her. Lorna had far too many issues at this point in her life, and sometimes hanging onto her sanity was almost a job.

The older woman could nearly taste the other's stress, and she slowed her walk even more, regarding her curiously. Unable to read her mind (that had never been her particular area of expertise), she automatically assumed it was because Lorna still held some large grudge against her for being with Alex. The redhead blinked slowly, head tilting to the side.

"The mission went well, yes?" she started, casually enough. "We did what we were meant to." In her book, that was a very definite success.
