This city is so strange, Monet thought, waiting in the lobby of her apartment building. Waiting for James Bond. Waiting for James Bond, who, after a thorough search of a bookstore, video store, cable television and the entire internet, seemed to only exist in the flesh. Even though she knew that he was a fictional character -- one of her very favorites but nevertheless fictional -- this city seemed to think otherwise.
Then again, she was going out with James Bond; who was she to argue?
From the corner of her eye, she glimpsed her reflection in the mirror. An altogether better look without the ridiculous cast in the way. Perfect.
