The shadows were familiar, a well-worn cloak that masked his presence as well as his silence. The glance did not go unnoticed, but Slade's thoughts were elsewhere. Regardless of whatever investment he had in Eddie's long-term plans, this wasn't a meeting he'd particularly cared to attend. The man was insufferable, even to someone with his profound sense of patience, and that was saying quite a bit. Besides, he disliked what he perceived as an attempt on Palpatine's part to make him a subordinate. The man hadn't stated it in such terms or forced the issue physically, but given the already established similarities between himself and Vader (such an odd thought), he wasn't inclined to be so charitable.

Despite all of that, Slade still had consented to come. It was an opportunity, if nothing else, and he didn't anticipate saying much throughout the conversation. Hopefully, it would at the very least prove to be entertaining to watch.

Heeding Slade's instructions of the meeting place, Edward was careful upon his entrance. He wasn't above paranoia, after all, and who knew what persona would take an interest in following him. As he neared the door of the indicated office, he paused right before it, drawing his thoughts together.

Indeed, he was wary. As this mysterious contact of Slade's was ever so eager to meet with him, well, that betrayed numerous indicators. First off, Slade was close enough with this fellow to inform him of Edward's qualities, at least to some extent. Secondly, that in itself denoted this man as a dangerous person. Slade Wilson seemed to have a collection of dangerous people.

His gloved hand rapped on the door, waiting to be let in.

Just as Eddie began to knock on the door, it would slide open, revealing the large, well-furnished office. The red carpeting and draping, as well as the oblong shape, was designed to intimidate those who came into it, especially when Palpatine was seated in his chair at his desk as he was now.

Once Eddie had entered the room, Palpatine rose from the chair, one hand gripping his cane, the other lifting and gesturing towards the door; it slid shut behind the other man. Palpatine was, as always, wearing his black robes, the hood pulled up far enough to obscure his eyes from Eddie's gaze, only allowing the pale skin of his lower face to be seen, the wrinkles obvious. A smile was on his face as he came from around his desk.

"Welcome, Mr. Nygma," he said, his voice almost calm and soothing, although there was a certain level of intimidation behind it as well. "How nice of you to join us."

Slade didn't move when the rapping came at the door, preferring to watch from his shadowed niche as Palpatine went to greet Eddie. He wasn't here to take part in the discussion, only to observe, so aside from a brief glance of acknowledgment in the other's direction, he offered nothing in the way of a greeting. They already knew one another so preliminaries weren't really necessary.

It's be interesting to see how Eddie handled this, particularly given the infamous nature of the man he'd come to see.
